The most popular TV show you've never heard of is called "The Chosen." It tells the story of Jesus and his disciples and there are seven seasons planned (the fourth season starts streaming June 2). Around 200 million people around the world have watched at least an episode, and the show also sold $63 million in theatrical ticket sales. The Hollywood Reporter talked to director Dallas Jenkins, who set out to make an elevated Christian TV series, and now has his sights on the Jesus Cinematic Universe.
I will be so glad when the flashback/flash forward/flashback fad of storytelling is over. Trying to watch “Manhunt”, and they can’t even be bothered to show the moments leading up to Lincoln’s assassination in order. It reeks of “the writing is weak — what can we do in the editing to spice things up?!”

I enjoyed it. Well, I enjoyed it while I also programmed on my second monitor. What I can say is that the plot is quite thin; the contrivances are quite contrived.
But what I saw was a more interesting film of childhood trauma and how it drives us as adults. The acting was critiqued on imdb, but I thought it was subtle, damaged, and the best part of the movie's themes.
The thing about the theme, is that it's clearly about Atlas being abused as a 9 year old.
Manipulated by a adult (robot AI or not) to do something intimate they clearly don't understand. And that leading to a life of guilt and shame.
It's important that the film say out loud that it wasn't her fault. I would have liked it to make it clearer that Harlan was a manipulative abuser even before being set free, but the writing can't quite get there.

Marvel is rebranding its TV shows to show fans that they don't necessarily have to watch everything in order to understand what's going on. “The hope is that, like the comics, you can just pop in anywhere and have a satisfying experience. @CultureDesk@billyjoebowers I wouldn’t mind keeping up if the stories felt different and took more story-telling risks. The sameness and lack of depth got super boring. Even if the quality fluctuated or the stories didn’t always land for me, it would have been better than the surface-level stories that never got deeper than “look at our snarky action heroes.”

@ascherbaum I've read the 3 books before seeing the serie. So I won't spoil you. But as usual, books are better than movies and motivations and so on are more obvious in your own brain private theatre :)
