Dear self/autonomous-driving developers, if you think you’ve planned for everything, you haven’t:

I think I charge my phone more often than I used to. I used to let it get all the way to single digits before recharging. Lately, I've been recharging when it's still over 75%.

Cassandra,

@JeremyMallin My headphones drive me nuts. No warning at all and then suddenly the alarms are so annoyingly repetitive that I have to stop listening immediately.

ashleyspencer,

@JeremyMallin my mouse doesn’t warn me, it just dies lol

"I was just crying and crying the entire journey home… 'Oh, will my life be the same? I'm going to be looked at as a shoplifter when I've never stolen'.

"#Facewatch later wrote to Sara and acknowledged it had made an error..."

I loathe current-AI in basically all its forms. It's unethical, absolutely divorced from anything that resembles consent.

But you know what I would want AI for?

Smarter driving instructions. A GPS in my car that learns how I like to drive - no lefts on busy streets for example. That when I ask about things like a coffee shop or takeout food en route gives me the option to specify if it has a drive thru and is it on the right side of the road?

AI that serves me, not replaces me.

Jorah,
@Jorah@wandering.shop avatar

@MsHearthWitch For me, the starting point for an improved driving app would be one that recognizes that my stopping for fuel isn't a crisis.

Chinese scientists achieve mass production of optical chips. Such chips are particularly useful for supercomputers and data centers.

Researchers found a way to produce the chips using lithium tantalate, a cheaper material than what was previously used.

This method is expected to help China avoid limitations on advanced chip production from the U.S. 🎉
