Boost please British folk. Woods here are FULL of death caps. Amanita phalloides. In decades of picking I have never seen as many as here on Cambridge today. It not even usually common here. It's brutally poisonous, please share a warning to avoid it #mushtodon#fungi#mushrooms
@zleap they're mycorrhizal, thriving in association with many kinds of broadleaved trees. It's not rare, and it can come up in the same woods over and over, year after year. But I've never seen it in the numbers I'm seeing now, something about conditions right now.
Hi all, I just joined Mastodon and wanted to share an #introduction. I’m Catie, a #gradstudent studying the #posthumanities in the US. I joined Mastodon bc a friend shared that I’d likely find some like-minded folx here online, since my small suburban town is pretty limited when it comes to anything “post.” Looking for fun or intriguing conversations and connects! I somewhat recently moved off the #permaculture homestead I was developing, so I’ve got that background too. I’ve been examining intersections of #posthumanism and permaculture related to patterning… lots there! Reach out if you’re looking to connect!
@elaterite I’m glad you like #posthumanism! There are so many ‘branches’ of PH. So much to think about! I’m not familiar with this website, but I am familiar with the concept. It’s definitely an interesting one. I don’t think I’m a proponent of “voluntary” human extinction. I think I’m more about letting the earth do its thing with the outputs that we and all other beings share. Mainly my research focuses on a cognitive shift in humans, where the human is decentered in our thoughts and actions. Like #DEI for all beings (including rocks, trees, robots, etc). Anyway, it’s fun that you and I intersect on Posthumanism. Happy to chat more if it’s interesting to you :)

I made water-drinking stations for bees. They love it!
During the hot, dry part of the year, you can really help your local bee population by providing water. Fill a large bowl with stones of different sizes and water. Float a few sticks or corks on the surface. Refill the water when it evaporates. #permaculture#nature#gardening#bees
@LouisIngenthron The water here evaporates so fast, I need to replenish it daily. This means, the water is always fairly fresh.
Mosquitoes need stagnant water for spawning.
I guess it depends on where you live. If your climate is very humid, and the water doesn't evaporate, it may be a good idea to change the water from time to time.
Tired of insta and etsy, starting my mastodon journey today!
So let me do an #introduction post. I make ceramics and porcelain in a small studio in Berlin.
Sometimes practical, but mostly experimenting with the artistic side.
German and English are not my native, so expect me to translate a lot.
In the technically-not-a-recession UK, #GardenDesign has taken an understandable hit, because gardens are considered a luxury. A damning indictment but hey, that’s the economic lemons.
Luckily, I am still making #garden lemonade. If you’re fortunate enough to have a garden design budget, please see my portfolio.
