Expecting some circuit boards today maybe. Exciting - my first use of #KiCad right through to actually producing PCBs, though I've worked up a few schematics in the past, and one other PCB layout.
Haven't bought any new boards for a project in a couple of years either, so it's nice for that reason too.
Needed an intermediate tool to get to the VRML v2.0 that KiCad seems to like. Used FOSS tool Wings3D which I hadn't seen before. Awkward but some progress.
Placement needs to be jiggled a bit, and my materials application didn't really render as created. More to learn.
Alright #fedipaint I think my mini is ready to print. I am SO proud of this. Compared to what I've made before this is a huge step forward. If you see any flaws please don't tell me my delicate joy can't be handling that right now. Slice and print tomorrow and start getting some paint on this fella.
Tried Onsdel. No, #Ondsel ES. An utterly unmemorable name, but a good progress even over the recent dev #FreeCAD, which had numerous improvements already. But any version that won't make me accidentally open Transform 20 times per project would win me over, and this one finally doesn't :)
Modelling as I go, looking at the current shape and adding or cutting, is also more feasible, which is important for those of us without spatial ability.
And yes, my design is heavy on fillets. #3dModelling
#3Dprinting people: how do you do #3Dmodelling? I've been using #tinkercad and it's great for simple stuff but I feel like I'm already outgrowing it. What software should I learn? I'm considering #FreeCAD and #Fusion360 but I'm open to other suggestions. I don't want a ridiculous learning curve because I'm just doing hobbyist stuff, but I want something a bit more powerful that I'm less likely to hit the limits of.
I did the whole model, (well besides the spikes and plates which are geo nodes) with them! HECK even some tiny details, and honestly, the topology isn't even that bad
Biiscuit is also contributing to the polish of the CCTVs game...
(here, a screen made in #blender3D and exported into .glb and sent to my homemade viewer)
Started this last night and finished it off today. Second agent this time being a little more subtle in his approach. Kept a copy of each stage (which I need to do more) so you can see roughly how it progresses. #blender3d#3dmodelling#minipainting
#AI#Fauxtomation#3DModelling: "An artificial intelligence company, whose founder Forbes included in a 30 Under 30 list recently, promises to use machine learning to convert clients’ 2D illustrations into 3D models. In reality the company, called Kaedim, uses human artists for “quality control.” According to two sources with knowledge of the process interviewed by 404 Media, at one point, Kaedim often used human artists to make the models. One of the sources said workers at one point produced the 3D design wholecloth themselves without the help of machine learning at all.
The news pulls back the curtain on a hyped startup and is an example of how AI companies can sometimes overstate the capabilities of their technology. Like other AI startups, Kaedim wants to use AI to do tedious labor that is currently being done by humans. In this case, 3D modeling, a time consuming job that video game companies are already outsourcing to studios in countries like China."
