> Dans le cadre de la lutte contre la désinformation, la Commission européenne a ouvert ce mardi une enquête contre les réseaux sociaux Facebook et Instagram.
"Instagram is now a truly awful product, beset with scammy advertising and an aggressive algorithm that deprives the user of industry, and Mosseri’s only response to the pain and frustration of his users is to tell them that he intends to make Instagram even worse in the future."
The EU is getting ready to launch an investigation into Meta over its handling of election-related content, reports @engadget
Full details of the investigation are expected later this week, but concerns have reportedly been raised about “deceptive advertising and political content” on Meta’s platforms. EU officials are also unhappy about Meta’s plan to shut down CrowdTangle in August, a move the researchers and fact checkers who use the tool have called a “direct threat to election integrity efforts around the world.”
I never thought I'd side with conservatives but here we are, calling out the "libtards" rioting on campuses. Hiding behind their masks like coward Ham-Ass.
#Meta should just offer people in #Europe (& the rest of the planet) a simple option: either opt in to have your personal information sold to advertisers, or pay a fee to use #Facebook, #Instagram, #WhatsApp & #Threads.
It works for #YouTube (I pay them to avoid ads), as well as other news organizations. It’s really that simple.
Have said it over and over, time after time: politics is the bane of Christianity. Politics is not a feature of heaven. The wolf in sheep's clothing today is a politician in a pastor's suit.
So, I have talked about how I've been doing a side-by-side comparison of stats for Instagram and Pixelfed by posting the same photos on both accounts.
Well, my pics tend to fall into certain well defined categories. So, I have been sorting the photos into the following and comparing average number of likes: Cats, Food, Flowers, Manga, and Selfies.
Based on these broad categories, I noticed a few hings. More info in the following toots.
Since January 2024 - here has been the average likes per post for those categories:
Cats - 25 (Insta), 35 (Pixelfed)
Food - 17 (Insta), 8 (Pixelfed)
Flowers / Bloomscrolling - 22 (Insta), 24 (Pixelfed)
Manga - 28 (Insta), 5 (Pixelfed)
Selfies - 25 (Insta), 10 (Pixelfed)
Toys - 20 (Insta), 8 (Pixelfed)
So, a few patterns emerge. First, there is not a lot of people noticing my manga posts on Pixelfed. That's apparent.
Second, the Fediverse loves cats. More so than Instagram! Same with flowers / bloomscrolling.
Food, selfies, and toy posts tend to average about the same per post on Pixelfed. 8-10 likes on average.
On Insta, selfies, manga, and cats do best. On Pixelfed, cats, flowers, and selfies do best.
Basically, on either platform - you can't go wrong with cat pics or selfies.
Now, on Insta, part of the manga boost is that I've been kind of into Mangagram - sharing posts, interacting with posts, etc on manga. Then again, I don't see a lot of manga in general on Pixelfed. Maybe it's me!
Was super hooked on the bad #SocialMedia again. Then I needed to clear my browsing data to fix a banking issue, which means I have to log back into #Facebook, #twitter, and #Instagram. Which I am not doing. I feel free again. 🥹
