I managed to pick up my camera for the first time in ages, and whilst I had to consider aperture, it was a needed reminder of just how much better it is for taking .

A bit of fun news today, I ordered a new camera last night. It's an old model, a Nikon D7500, but it is brand new, and I feel like I got a pretty good deal on it.

My first DSLR was a D50. I now carry two D3100 SLRs with me when I'm out shooting. This new camera will be the first one I've owned that wasn't near the bottom of Nikon's more economical line of SLRs.

I will probably never own the latest, greatest thing, so I get excited when I can splurge a little.

"Sea level along the U.S. coastline is projected to rise, on average, 10 - 12 inches (0.25 - 0.30 meters) in the next 30 years (2020 - 2050)."

By 2100, = 2 feet at least,
3.5 - 7 feet if the world fails to curb carbon .

Analog Tales 2: The Canon A-1 - Over the last couple of years, a lot of Canon SLRs from the 1970s and 1980s went through my hands in the camera store and while I didn't really want to dive into another camera ecosystem, I could not resist the A-1... The algorithm got me. I've been looking at SLRs and discovered I couldn't afford one. This SLR looks like it might be a better price. 🙄

A civil war is brewing in the climate and cryosphere community. There is a group of scientists, engineers (and funders) that are really starting to push forward on geoengineering approaches to mitigate the impacts of climate change. 1/

BassisJeremy,

One of the more advanced ideas is that we can eject particles (aerosols) into the stratosphere and these will reflect solar radiation. This can reduce the temperature of the planet because we get less solar radiation at the surface.

There is also a growing push to develop infrastructure that can block warm water from the bottom of ice shelves and glaciers so that we reduce bottom melt with the idea that this might reduce rise. 2/
