I just want to copy & paste a few images together into a collage. Very low effort & quicky. There's decent android phone apps to automatically make a collage. But anything for a desktop / web browser?
Does anyone know of a #Mastodon web app that allows for both a) creating hashtag groups and b) following Instances other than my own? Basically, adding some of the killer features of @IceCubesApp but in web app I can use on multiple Windows desktops.
I am using @elk and I really love it but just wanted to explore some more. Or perhaps Elk might be looking to add those in the future?
Also #ChromeOS supports #Android-Apps and if you don't have administrative privilegues on a machine then consider it insecure and nit trustworthy for yourself as a user!
This is irrelevant too. Browsers have really good sandboxing nowadays, and on chromium you can even create multiple profiles within the UI. The reality is that, as long as the client-side code can be trusted (reminder that you can self-host element and/or cinny if you don't trust it - I've done that before) as well as the browser itself, it's about the same in terms of security.
@hexaheximal@esm@hexaheximal ...and even if we think local #WebApps are a legitimate way to handle sensitive comms - they ain't but let's just assume they are for the sake of argument - WHY would you do anything beyond a .desktop file that includes startup parameters for #Firefox (or even #Chrome if you're that kind of Cyber-Masochist!) that specify the browser, and the file to load.
Because any good #WebApp should be reduceable as #HTML5 + #JS6 + #CSS3 and measured in kB or maybe a few MB.
Over the last year or so I've expanded my Web Development to include Web App Development. Just completed a boutique App to provide a Digital Products Environment (DPE) for a client to be able to sell digital products alongside physical ones.
Since this is a B2B store with custom branded promotional products like brochures and cards, the client will sell it, customize it, upload the products and the customers will be sent the information to be able to view it online instead of buying the physical product. A 5 month endeavor with many challenges along the way, but I'm proud of my accomplishment!
I've got a PHP website with a PostreSQL backend. It's entirely read-only in production, and its largest table has about 10,000 rows. Postgres, PHP, and a Caddy proxy all run in separate Docker containers.
Is it crazy to think that a simple system like this would run just fine with SQLite instead? In the longer term I’d like to move the whole thing to running with the Django Rest Framework and rework the front-end bit entirely.
