Thoughts, feelings, perceptions are just that: thoughts, feelings and perceptions. They arise, stay for a while and cease. They're not you, not yours, not self.
Anyone relate to this feeling? I see the year as a metaphor for an entire life; that's why when December arrives, I always feel sad. I have felt this way since I was 7 or 8 years old. January is not a time of happiness for me, as one might expect with a new year; rather, it feels like starting over again on the wheel of Samsara.
I've been throwing away some of my old artwork, mostly paper based stuff. I've photographed it years ago, but going through it, and just chucking it in the bin... creates a lot of feelings.
Memories of the past, pride at having created something, feelings of failure or worthlessness...

Pondering forays today into pantoums and/or sestinas; I hope to be able in the next few days to test out a vague sense that certain poetic #forms might get at certain #feelings or situations in ways others might not. One is allowed to have mixed feelings. You are allowed to believe in the necessity, the moral necessity and the practical necessity, of going after Hamas and absolutely destroying it, and at the same time you are allowed to feel genuine sorrow for the Palestinians who have suffered under Hamas and even for those who in their desperation have supported Hamas some of whom will now die as Israel attacks Hamas, or simply for want of resources as refugees , and at the same time you are allowed to feel genuine sorrow and concern for the young Israeli soldiers who are about to be committed to the most difficult battle imaginable, some of whom will die in the battle, and at the same time you are allowed to feel alienation and disgust toward the leftists who care nothing for Jewish lives.... You are allowed to feel all of these things and more, all as you daily read another story of a beautiful young life cut short by terrorists in southern israel.
Ein paar Tage später forsche ich nach: Ursache für den Schimmel in diesem verlassenen Gasthof war wohl ein Wasserschaden, dessen Behebung sich für die Besitzer nicht rechnete. Dieser verlassene Gasthof wird ganz klar immer ein Lost Place bleiben. Erfeulicherweise wurde er von Vandalismus verschont und hat daher seinen authentischen Charakter behalten. Mir hat dieser Besuch sehr gefallen.
