Fairscope do many other great things, but I LOVED the “Chairigami” furniture they were using on their stand here at the Ocean Sciences meeting. It was robust and comfortable and easy to flat pack. More of this!
I admit I am a sucker for 40s / 50s early 60s furniture and interior design.
Part of it might be Bethesda's #Fallout games, but also you know... Boomers, aka my grandparents. Both my dad's parents and mom's parents naturally had a ton of #40s and #50s furniture in their homes, the style just instinctively is "cozy" and "safe" to me I guess because of that.
Anyway, this is one reason I just love the #Paralives trailer...

Years ago, a friend turned me on to an old book from back in the early 70s called Nomadic Furniture. It is full of DIY plans and flatpack stuff that looks way ahead of their time. From an Italian camp chairs from the 1800s, cardboard furniture that we see touted today as "new", to self-contained "living cubes" that would make IKEA proud, to some frankly very practical DIY stuff. This morning I learned there is a volume 2!

Hmm, very tempted to renovate these free Hans Wegner style Mid-Century Modern chairs (Craigslist) -- if I had access to my workshop. Though, no need for dining chairs. Pricey if in good condition. Dining chairs tend to be easy to reupholster, too.. #refurbish#recycle#furniture
