Gotta love the kind of driver who backs his porsche out right in front of a family on bikes and then parks it in the bike lane along with their other car, already parked in the bike lane, in the school zone during school drop-off.
Outside of that, I'm a New England-based software engineer by day. I'm also big into #boardgames , and got bitten by the #pickleball bug about two years ago.
I'm also big into various forms of #rock , from melodic death all the way to indie rock. But post-rock/metal and dream pop especially.
For today's first #pickleball session we have 13 people and three of them are named Jeff. Having flashbacks to high school geometry class, when 5/25 were named Jeff and I was the only one who had a clue. Got called on a lot because the teacher was a bit lazy.
Yeah, sadly does not appear to know what pickleball is. To be fair, until it became WILDLY popular in hollywood fairly recently, I had never heard of it either. #AI#art#pangolin#pickleball
I think I've figured out why my #pickleball serve is so strangely effective. I put no spin on the ball, not even the normal amount that lets the ball fly true, so it wobbles and bounces weirdly. Same thing I used to do in volleyball. It's not intentional, but it sure does work.
I just got back from working out at the #Ottawa#RACentre this almost-rainy Tuesday morning, and noticed that if I want to meet the newly-retired people in my neighborhood, I should join the #Pickleball league.
I've got a weekend ahead of almost pure fun. It will be filled with harvesting the produce from my #garden, #pickleball, #biking, reading and cooking. Life is very good!
Yesterday was such a terrific day. I got to play #pickleball games for the first time. (It's just been lessons until now.) I held my own. My team won 3 out of 4 games. Hubby and I went out to dinner at an empanada place in the Riverwest neighborhood here in #Milwaukee. And then we headed over to watch the beginning of the Riverwest 24, an annual 24 hour #biking event. There are 1500 riders, 750 volunteers and, once again, no corporate sponsorships. It's just a great #community event. #cycling
Growing up in the 80s and 90s I was led to believe that 1950s bowling culture would be much more important in my adult life than it actually turned out to be
These people who live along our route to school have recently built their own private pickleball court. They hold pickleball matches every evening, with their fellow pickleballers parking their fancy cars in the multimodal lane.
My kid made up a song about it on our way home one day this week.
With #Pickleball sweeping the world and unseating golf and tennis as the #1 activity for short pants adults with pent up competitive juices, I couldn't resist!
Now you can invoke the fury of Pomarat from my story Itchiwan at your next pickling foray. www.jjcunis.com/callahans
