Like many faculty, I’ve seen fewer students stop by office hrs post-COVID. Potential solution to make office visits more fun: the “Disco Button” has been deployed to my office at Boston College. An effective way to teach IoT with , @Raspberry_Pi W, & @adafruit IO.

I forget who was curious the other day, but I broke out my physical copy of @platformalist's game Leaving the Tree today and opened it up again. I had totally forgotten how many cool things were packaged with it. There was so much, it was tough to get a pic on my desk! 😂 I'll try to get some gameplay soon - it's even compatible with most Xbox USB controllers.

The rad wood 256MB USB cart in the middle of the photo contains the game and even more of Andrew's (his Eggnog company's) games too- Maze Dog, Coffee Bug, Winterberry, Cat Bandit, Cake Cat, and more.

Incredible, all of it. Lots of stickers and two-sided character profile cards here too. On the other sides of the cards are little descriptions like on the overturned card in the top right.

Check out https://eggnoggames.com -- there are links to these games on itch.io there!

I'll be giving a talk on the Pico Cray at Cambridge Raspberry Jam next Saturday.
So. If you want to see the Pico Cray, Pico Lynx and a few Pico Computers. Plus talks by MakerCubbard and someone called Eben Upton.

Workshops and an assortment of show and tell.

I definitely just make problems for myself...

I spent a few hours yesterday trying to connect the Debug Probe to the but the probe kept just turning off. If I press down the boot button, it stays on for longer and I can reflash the firmware.

Eventually, I tried plugging the Probe into my work computer to test the connection - it stays on, although, it's missing drivers so isn't doing anything. I'm guessing that I've broken something with the drivers/udev on my laptop

I think, for me, much like EDLIN, it's pretty much always been a matter of knowing that it was the default editor available in every incarnation of and since, ... I dunno, ... 4.2BSD or so?

Perhaps I should say vi, and in DOS I don't really recall when EDIT.COM supplanted , but do feel free to checkout my friend's more modern in the link above. h/t to @dheadshot for creating a POSIX interpretation of that classic utility from the days when disk drives talked to you and diskettes shimmied...

Also, These memes are some of the funnest elbows to the ribs of the person sitting next to you we can all enjoy together... unless, unless, Oh my gawd am I on Drugs?

Here's another one for folks to add to their collections, for foshizzles and giggles, of course, and we all can haz ! 🍔

Kindest regards, and thank you for some of the very best cookbook style , 's, and introspectives for the UNIX / Linux / FOSS world on the Internet :)

One of my most popular projects which I never made a video of is the based digitally controlled oscillator originating on the design of the Roland . It uses accurate for driving up to six independent voices and is controlled by . Also a few parameters can be changed by its built-in . See https://github.com/polykit/pico-dco for more details

I made a breakout board/soldering jig/ header jig for Raspberry Pi Pico.

https://www.printables.com/model/623098-parametric-breakout-board-for-raspberry-pi-pico

It was really easy because someone else did the heavy lifting of designing the model. I just had to tweak a few parameters to make it work for a different board. That's why I'm a fan of OpenScad.

10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know You Could do With Nano Editor

OK, you probably do know at least one or two of these, but I’ve added the auto backup, line numbers, mouse support, and scroll bar to an alias for every time I start up nano.

See https://itsfoss.com/nano-tips-tricks/

@danie10

Not a huge fan, as I find that
is usually much faster for me, but I do use it in a pinch here and there, although I alias nano to ;)

On , at least at , nano is still the default install from the U of Washington contribs (not pico).

The other half of that equation is (alpine). When running , I do use nano over that of for authoring my emails.

Thanks for sharing those 's Danie :)
