Where are the #ink and #print#printer nerds? I have Questions about ink composition on an HP printer and how to make sure it's fixed when I print it on fabric.
I love that #printer companies now sell "extra-large" ink cartridges that are the same size as regular size ink cartridges and have a quarter the ink that cartridges in the '90s had.
On a positive technical note. After enduring the horror of an HP inkjet printer, I bought a Brother color laser printer. It continues to work flawlessly with all my devices. I don't have a Brother app, they don't have any of my personal information. After a year of use I finally had to get some new toner. It was $50 for a full set with an extra black cartridge. You can get generic toner for even cheaper and it works fine because there's no DRM. Brother, I love you! #printer#brother
When you just want a thing that does the thing you want it to do and not a bunch of other stuff you never need it to do. Printer edition. #BrotherPrinter#Printer#HomePrinter
@ross I have a larger model with the scanner and feeder tray, DPC L2550DW, because it was the only #Brother#Printer I could find during the 'Rona times. It's a beast. There is a reason that nearly every car mechanic shop has a Brother printer still printing invoices while caked in dust, oil, grease, stacks car parts, and the occasional shop #Cat .
As others have pointed out, great #Linux support! #GoTeamBrother#ThisIsTheWay#tech
The best #tech#support of any company I've ever interacted with comes from Prusa, the Czech #3D#printer maker. Consistently, they listen to what you have to say, and right away have a good answer. No how-are-you-doing-you-are-so-important-to-us bs that only aggravates everybody, but straight answers to each question, always backed up with links, sometimes with more background info than you had any reason to supposed might exist.
HP’s “All-In Plan” requires a constant internet connection so that the company can see not just how many pages you're printing, but what file types. It costs up to $36 per month. #privacy
HP Printer wants you to do what?? "Rent" your printer? It then automatically orders new ink when it thinks you're close to running out (what could possibly go wrong), and you get an allowance of only 20 pages a month, charging same: B&W/colour.
They've lost their tiny little minds, why would I want to do that? Printers are already riculously expensive to run so when I had to replace my colour HP, I've gone with a B&W Brother printer.
I won't buy HP ever again.
The other thing that horribly expensive printers lead to for me is that I reduced printing as much as I can. I need to print sewing patterns I get emailed as a pdf, I print the part of a knitting pattern with the chart that I don't want to fire my phone up for every five mins, plus I can mark off my progress, - things like that.
I used to print lots but then you have to do something with all that paper! No thanks. I scan these days to get rid of paper, I no longer print lots.
I think printer companies shoot themselves in the foot with charging an arm and a leg for ink, a subscription scheme like that is even more money grabbing. We no longer need to print backup/"safety" paper copies because of cloud backups of our digital files; we do a lot more online and don't use mail.
This feels like HP doing the Kodak thing when they couldn't imagine that people might not need their product anymore.
Not content with DRM in overpriced ink cartridges, HP now wants you to start RENTING printers for the low, low price of only $36 a month with the number of printable pages per month limited.
Could everyone please tell HP to kindly go fuck themselves?
