The skin of your laundry pods dissolve in the washing machine, right?

They dissolve into microplastic.
And wastewater treatment systems have no way to filter that out so the microplastics go straight into streams and the ocean.

Just pour your laundry soap out of a box or bottle.

Research from the Fraunhofer Institut shows that in Germany, tire wear is the single largest source of microplastics, and it's much larger than the next source which is -- wait for it -- abrasion of plastic from road surfaces.

Sounds like Germans like to burn rubber (except that car tires are no longer ctual rubber but a composite containing lots of plastic).

A broad cross section of Germans are taking to the streets and the squares to protest the rise of the far-right in German politics.

Their brilliant slogan:
In English,

I hope the slogan goes viral, whether in German or in translation. It reflects exactly what is needed: for lots of us to show up together, and not allow the far right fascists to take over.

WE are the firewall.

San Francisco, Chinese New Year.
The streets are PACKED with people celebrating. A robotaxi muscles its way through, carrying no passenger.

So it's an empty robot car, taking up the space of a dozen people standing, barging through the crowd which is crowded.

And police are scratching their heads about how the car ended up torched.

We really need to stop buying into the argument that are "radical" or "destructive". The opposite is true: the nature of the protests have been peaceful and, on the whole, pretty tame.

The idea that, say, sitting on a road is "radical", "extreme" and "criminal" came from a bunch of aligned think tanks, parroted by the media.
Reject them.

The framing needs to be: Fossil fuel companies are radical, extreme, criminal.

You know that "windmills kill birds" crap?
That's part of the fossil fuel industry's smear campaign against clean wind energy.
