@BeAware My instance mastodon.green is allowing Threads. I hate Zuck but i am not stupid. Most big accounts that find Mastodon too confusing will move there. So it is nice to be able to interact with them. I like that my server lets me still choose to do that.

@BeAware Just my opinion but to the outsiders (non gamers) they could both easily seem like the same thing. Vaults etc. It took decades to get each one made and they decide to release them so close to each other?

@kero i just use @elk (https://elk.zone/) and @phanpy (https://phanpy.social/) as PWA's. IMO they are so good it removed the need for me to have an actual app on my phone

Had a rock solid system for a few months now. However, today I started a and left the house. When I came back, the laptop seemed fine and Pika reported a complete backup. A few clicks later, however, the machine abruptly rebooted, reported several EXT4-fs errors with bad block bitmap remarks, and finally froze. I don't know, but sometimes seems pretty fragile. ☹️

So @gnome is removing the x11 session, leaving just the Wayland one.

If this goes out before Orca, the GNOME screen reader, is fixed to work on Wayland, it will mean that people who rely on screen readers will have no way to use one on GNOME. And thus on the major Linux distributions.

So I’m hoping the plan is that this change will not land until GNOME has a working screen reader.

@nekohayo @aral @nah @fvsch @sonny @matt no mention of it being a development platform is mentioned on the website. I know it is but a new user wouldn't. On forums and Reddit it is usually recommended for those that want a 'pure gnome experience'.
