I reckon Copilot+ PC is going to be a product that an entire class of professional just simply can't purchase or use for work. Thinking of , , etc.

Surely the "features" will be able to be disabled, but can anyone reasonably trust that?

(1)the cost of writing and maintaining, ( means funding with competitors too)
(2) training,

This requires perceiving value in ownership. For many niches, they cannot connect the dots.

@nixCraft The only real use I had for it was a multithreading email app I wrote for a company that required... I think it was 3 threads, since I was also dealing with Rsyslog...

@sjvn @Nfoonf @cstross The stack overflow folks got accounts suspended and answers reverted. The law is on Stack Overflow's side on that, since hidden in the legal gibberish was the company having full rights to the content.

Pretty sure they won't be contributing in the future. Well, the smart ones anyway. But will they learn the lesson? Maybe.

You would have thought the Democrats would have learned with Hillary. They didn't. Look what happened.

Now, people can voter shame all they want, but the reality is that people should vote FOR a candidate, not AGAINST a candidate.

that's where third party candidates pick up votes and begin garnering support - Republicans and Democrats, don't really care about voters or they'd pay better attention.

Joe Biden could still turn this around and not lose to Trump by defunding Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people. If he doesn’t, there will be only person to blame for Joe Biden losing to Trump in six months and that’s Joe “I am a Zionist” Biden.

@aral I don't know that he's a Zionist, but here's what I do know.

(1) Palestinians don't have a fiscal lobby of note, whereas Israelis do.

(2) Campaign donations are considered 'free speech'. 👀

(3) No one seems have demanded that Democrats 'divest'. In fact, quite the opposite, they'll crawl out of the woodwork and tell you, "If Trump wins..."

If the campaign is about fear, we're seeing Hillary all over again. Fleetingly.

The twitter block issue is caused by Firfox filters. Firefox is working on a fix. The announcement reads as: Hey folks, we are aware of the Twitter issue and our team is working on a fix at the moment.

This was an interesting bit of research into this, from the origins of the word (forced labor) right after the Second Industrial revolution, to how we connect it with ... I had way too much fun reading up to write this. Robots started off as a metaphor in 1920 that doesn't seem as distant as it should be now.

Brilliant proposal by German politicians: Let us place air defence systems inside NATO, and have these systems save civilian lives by shooting down missiles over western Ukraine.

This is pretty clever because

  1. Russia cannot bomb these systems as that would be an act of war against the entire NATO alliance.

  2. The systems cannot trigger a war with Russia themselves, as they are not attacking Russia.

The media can't stop talking about him even when they should.

Now, if we replace 'Musk' with 'Trump', you will begin to see the pattern.

Everyone wants hope. It's what they hope for that is telling.

It's not 'Artificial Intelligence'. We don't have 'Artificial Intelligence'. Everyone lambasted IBM (quite rightly) when they called Watson 'Artificial Intelligence' because it's not a thing humanity has achieved. Not even close. We have really good language models. I am getting pretty tired explaining to people 'No we need a different kind of model for that'. I'd make a T-shirt except I don't wear T-shirts.
