Things I teach my kids:

• “No” is a complete sentence.
• If you’re not having a good time you can leave.
• Never make yourself smaller just to make other people more comfortable.
• It’s okay not to be okay.
• Don’t take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from.
• Other people’s opinions of you are none of your business.
• Speak as kindly to yourself as you would speak to others.
• Be your own greatest cheerleader, always.

It’s never too late to learn these things.

I'm looking for British artists - ideally from marginal backgrounds, including BIPOC, disabled, working class, queer etc, who work on the environment and climate from an activist perspective. If can think of any names (or if that describes you!) please do let me know.

And boost for visibility please - thank you all kindly

Did you notice? We have almost 5.000 followers!
Now we're wondering: might we find among you (or your network) two experienced UX/UI designers who are willing to engage in a 6-month volunteer project? We need to come up with a way to fit a bunch of new functionality into the already busy player screen. We're looking for two people (one for each role) to help us with this.
Interested? More info? Send a DM or email keunes@mailbox.org.
Boosts appreciated!

Been working on new features!

  • jumping on enemies or throwing things at them knock them out for a while.
  • you can grab those enemies and throw them to other enemies, to actually kill them.

And we have... PROCEDURALLY CREATED LEVELS! Which are quite useful for gameplay testing.

I am looking for art style references for this one-screen coop platformer. Inspiration comes frome Lode Runner, Nightshift and Burguertime. I personally love Annalynn's classic looks, like Wonderboy or Bubble Bobble/Rainbow Islands. But what does this early capture suggest you?

The writing is on the wall.

Actually it's not writing. It's neon letters directly wired to a fusion reactor.

The internet you knew? It's gone. There is no recovering it. There's too much money and incentive behind the idea of making the entire village into a strip mall run by LLMs. Your gardens are forfeit.

I don't know if a is possible, but even if it isn't, we gotta get to work building the intentional, human web. The one that rejects generative content, the one that verifies humanity through mutual trust, the one that takes privacy and safety of our neighbors as the highest value.

There are many tools available, but united effort must join together around them. Carefully, intentionally, we have to start moving what matters away from the polluted land.

Schaut euch die Wahlliste der Europawahl mal in Ruhe an, da sind auch ein paar Parteien, die sich zu den Themen KI, Digitalisierung, Open Source Software und digitale Souveränität echt Gedanken gemacht haben.

Wählt also gerne "kleine" Parteien. Denkt dran, dass es keine 5% Hürde gibt und macht keine "Protestwahl".

Remember that comparison between Orwell's 1984 and Huxley's Brave New World, specifically the but that went "Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance."?

The way LLMs are flooding every single corner of the internet with garbage is Huxley's fear, on a scale even he could not have predicted.

Finally finished BioShock tonight after 17 years and two previous failed attempts!

Finally clicked as I played it more like an immersive sim than a straight FPS, and while it has some flaws (endless pipe mania, basically a corridor shooter and slightly awkward combat), the visual design, plasmids and tonics elevated it into something more than the sum of its parts. #ShareYourGames

From the “right leverage point, wrong direction” series (reference to Jay Forrester), the majority of teams I worked with when faced with high batch transaction cost relative to batch size, instead of reducing the transaction cost they increase the batch size.

d_stepanovic,
@d_stepanovic@mastodon.social avatar

Some examples:
— conflated design, leading to having to rely on coarser grained, integration tests ⇒ run tests only after a bigger change and take longer time to figure out when something breaks
— lack of availability of a dependent team ⇒ Big, Speculative Design Upfront and premature negotiation of contract
— deployment pipeline taking long relative to the size of the change ⇒ increase size of the change deployed, increasing the risk of an outage

Will start a little series here about me browsing this Club Nintendo issue from July 1995 (Nintendo Power in the US). 📖

I explicitly bought this one recently because I have so fond childhood memories. It must have been one of the few I owned and therefore read endless times. I still remember so much of the content and now I'm excited to refresh these memories.

The cover shows Asterix & Obelix, a PAL exclusive game series. 🐗

@repeatro@mastodon.social avatar

Club Nintendo magazines often came with guides about the presented games. So it is with Mickey Mouse V: Magic Wands! in the issue I have in front of me. 💫

Do you remember using one of these guides to successfully proceed in a game you were stuck before? 🔍

The one thing I miss about the 90s is cars were improving instead of deteriorating.

Looking at a newer car, 90s: well yeah I guess I would like two airbags. Seat belts front AND back? I really don't need my steering wheel to be easier to turn, but if you're offering. Cruise control would be amazing, wow, thanks.

Looking at a newer car, 20s: I just want a box that moves forwards without recording my face while it does it. Anything else is icing. Doesn't need to have seats even.
