Please help collecting statistics to optimize Emacs GC defaults

Many of us know that Emacs defaults for garbage collection are rather ancient and often cause singificant slowdowns. However, it is hard to know which alternative defaults will be better.

Emacs devs need help from users to obtain real-world data about Emacs garbage collection. See the discussion in https://yhetil.org/emacs-devel/87v8j6t3i9.fsf@localhost/

Please install https://elpa.gnu.org/packages/emacs-gc-stats.html and send the generated statistics via email to emacs-gc-stats@gnu.org after several weeks.

Among the multitude of minor updates and refactoring of various packages and some shared core types/interfaces (see readme & changelogs), the 40th release of 2023 (already 555 in total!) is also featuring...

https://thi.ng/fibers - a new package providing a fiber process tree abstraction around ES6 generators for cooperative multitasking, incl. support for spawning & waiting for child processes, cancellation, event & error handling, logging, time slicing and various other highlevel operators to compose fibers (also via transducers). Please see readme, docs and the commented source code of this little example project for more insights:

Bringing Stability to the FreeCAD Release Process
Since its inception, FreeCAD's build and release process has been an entirely volunteer effort. As the project has grown, however, this has resulted in ever more work for the volunteers. Maintaining the various builds and releases is a mostly invisible, thankless process; but also one that is mission-critical. The FreeCAD Project Associat

Forged In FreeCAD: 4Axis for CNC Ring Engraving
We’ve featured a few projects under the “Forged In FreeCAD” title but what caught our eye with this one is that FreeCAD was used to not only create an innovative solution, but also was used to then help operate the created machine.

Project creator Jordan Poles had a burgeoning interest in lathes and wanted to make an engraved brass ring. T
