Let’s (try to) crowdsource the names of the original #iPhone#AppStore apps and games!
I’m writing a piece on the App Store turning 15, and I couldn’t find a list of the original ~500 App Store apps and games from 11 July 2008, which I thought was strange. @jamesthomson, whose PCalc was there from the start, suggested we might be able to crowdsource this, for posterity and future research.
#appstore

Completely bewildered by the #VoiceDream subscription announcement. The blog post links to #Stripe for making a subscription payment, but that's not how subscriptions to #iOS apps are usually managed. Meanwhile, I can't see anything in the app itself about an account, #AppStore purchases, or subscriptions. If I pay through Stripe today, am I supposed to assume that at some point, the iOS app will be updated to respect that new subscription?
User visits my website with iPhone using Safari. Sees some specific page. I somehow capture this fact on the device and associate a token with this (so far anonymous user).
User installs my app.
User opens the app that they just installed.
The freshly installed app would like to read the token that was set in step 1 (on the same device).
The European Digital Markets act will allow side loading and third party app stores for iOS and there's even a closed source one in development. What about open source ones?
Time to dust off the blog. I wrote a post about my experience with launching @PleaseDontRain with the YOLO (You Only Launch Once) tips that @jordanmorgan has shared.
Ironic that Apple, which doesn’t allow alternative app stores, is not deemed a monopoly, but Google, which does, is.
“But Epic v. Google turned out to be a very different case. It hinged on secret revenue sharing deals between Google, smartphone makers, and big game developers, ones that Google execs internally believed were designed to keep rival app stores down.”

Is it common for the #AppStore review to complain about app extensions spawning processes? My app contains an intents app extension, and as soon as you look at one of its Shortcuts actions in the Shortcuts editor, naturally its appex is launched by macOS. Weirdly, that was the first issue they had with the app. I'm confused.
Typing in the exact name of an app, and selecting it from the auto-complete dropdown list in the search bar, gives me the results pictured. (And I’m totally OK with search ads here, but none of these are ads!)
“Fin- budget tracker” in the search bar, and I have to scroll past Mint, YNAB, and Monefy to see the one I LITERALLY JUST PICKED FROM A LIST. 🙄
Elon Musk says he’s going to talk to Tim Cook about adjusting the Apple tax (www.theverge.com)
Elon Musk is going after Apple again.
Is there an open source app store in development for iOS?
