Last spring we had ravens nesting nearby. They are loud! They didn't nest here this year but they're still around, often calling to each other. Here's my tribute to this intelligent bird - I've added a quilted effect to my #artwork to give it a 3D look.
I livestream on Twitch on Sundays, 1-3:00 and Tuesday nights, 7-9:00, PDT (GMT-7). I am currently working on more bird images for greeting cards and a calendar.
I’ve been obsessed with bird nests lately: finding them, watching them (from a distance), drawing them. I had to stop myself from “helping” a cardinal arrange her nest lining today. In unrelated news, my youngest child will be leaving home soon. #BirdArt#Birds#ColouredPencils
Every now and then I like to work with a subject from mythology like this drawing in charcoal pencil titled "The Ravens of Odin.' These birds were messengers to the Norse god. I tried to impart a look of intelligence in their eyes.
My newest painting - Whimsical bird on a wire acrylic painting.
The inspiration for this painting was a robin that lives in our garden and sat fluffed up next to our bird feeder on a frosty winter's day, enjoying the warming rays of the morning sun.
In Greek mythology, a little owl represents or accompanies Athena and has become known as a symbol of knowledge and wisdom attesting to the staying power of the Olympians. The whispers of Athena's legacy are everywhere.
The symbology of the owl has often inspired my own journey. The ability to see through the darkness of life and find knowledge is a potent totem.
