What’s your favorite library in for web authentication? Or any other recommendation to implement it (like std lib or just a JWT one etc).

Ideally it supports classic credentials, 2FA and passkeys. Bonus for OAuth providers that you can extend (if it does not support Mastodon out of the box for example).

Reboost welcome 👉👈

Is there a language like (compiles to native binary, preferably without GC or manual memory management, has an easy-to-use build system) that also doesn't end up pulling in hundreds of transitive dependencies? Ideally what I'd want is like Rust but with 's standard library, capable of handling most basic tasks (even if external dependencies would make life easier). I often look at but I don't want to tangle myself up with Google anymore than I already have

🔸Компілювані мови (#C, C++, )

does not list ‘unlisted’ posts on your profile page when loaded in the browser … without authentication.

This may not be new to some of you, but I just realised how big of a deal that is. It means that it kinda operates like local-only posts for randos, in that they aren’t viewable by anyone who isn’t your “friend”.

i’m sure there is more to it than just that, but the brain is foggy today … and … come on … that is huge.

i need to focus on learning as soon as i get back… the more time i spend with it, the more i am in-love with it and i wanna help the team… i wanna feel useful.

Just tossed up a post on how to use VulnCheck's new free community (extended) KEV and NVDv2 APIs in curl and go: https://rud.is/b/2024/03/23/vulnchecks-free-community-kev-cve-apis-code-golang-cli-utility/

It also introduces a small CLI utility I made to get both extended KEV and NVDv2 CVE data back in one call (code @ https://codeberg.org/hrbrmstr/vccve).

People working on applications: I want to pick a way to make SQL queries (most likely SQLite and/or Postgres) but I'm totally lost with the many options available. Do you have any recommendations please? 🙇
It's for a web app, a smallish Activity Pub social network.

So far I have:

hrbrmstr, to random

This idiom/function:

toSQL <- function(obj) {

 dbplyr::sql_render(obj) |>
 as.character() -> x

 clipr::write_clip(x)

 writeLines(x)

 invisible(x)

}

comes in SO STUPID HANDY when I have to convert an {tidyverse} wrangling query into something I can put into my data pipeline grabbers.

Not the most efficient , but it gets the job done with no effort.

When you mostly work in and experience its amazing build times, you die a little bit inside everytime you see the compile summary stating that it took 4 minutes to finish.

The San Fransisco Aviation Museum (known as the SFO Museum / https://sfomuseum.org) has launched a massive initiative to federate their whole archive into the ! They have gone so far as to write their own software in suited to their needs and open sourced it (https://github.com/sfomuseum/go-activitypub). And have already launched thousands of automated accounts that cover different parts of their collection. It looks like @thisisaaronland is behind the project.

Feels like something that hasn't been necessary since 2013.

I love how Go and Rust programs just compile down to a single binary you can do whatever you want with. Sprinkle a systemd definition and voila, you’ve got yourself a long running service with superpowers 🥰.
