I'm launching a new sister project to the self-hosted apps directory I launched a few weeks ago and am giving the #fediverse a sneak peek because I need your help!

What are your favorite companion apps for the self-hosted services you deploy?

They must support software that can be self-hosted, be relatively up-to-date, and can be closed source.

Comment below or send me a DM with your suggestions. Thanks!

Hi, I am using this little box with an intel n100
In vm, to get a fast linux vm, should I select 1 socket 4 cores?
Or will nftables work the same speed on 1 core?

https://selfh.st/apps update:

I've been overwhelmed with the positive feedback from the community since last week's launch and have been trying to add projects as fast as the requests come in.

Two new features since launch: License details added to the project tiles and a "Recently Added" sort option for users to easily view projects added since their last visit.

Next feature on the list: RSS feed for newly added project notifications

So, a question for all , , , people.

I want to setup a netboot setup that boots into a menu of a lot of OS installers. How would you set that up? Right now, the only thing that seems to do what I want is iVentoy, but I was wondering if I have other options.

I have a collection of movies and TV shows on my NAS being served by Jellyfin. I have a "Kids" account with access to a subset of this media.

I want to transcode just that subset with specific settings and dump it to external storage. Ideally this would happen whenever I plugged that external storage into the NAS.

Is there an off the shelf solution to this or do I need to roll my own?

@genebean@fosstodon.org avatar

I’m impressed enough with native (systemd-nspawn) #NixOS containers that I think I’m going to use them for more parts of my home server as a way of providing a tad bit more isolation between services.

Im wondering if anyone here in the side of masto has any advice or experience with the Dell PowerVault MD1200 - MD1220?
I do have a PowerEdge 720 server with space for a PERC card to attach the DAS to. Im just wondering if anyone knows if these two particular PowerVault's are strictly SAS only and can only take firmware locked drives? Im thinking about getting one but dont want a massive paperweight.

I want to try using in my local networks.

My clients get their IPv6 with a prefix defined by my ISP and then delegated from the router.

How can I deal with changing prefixes to have stable accesses to my network clients?

Any hint, documentation something appreciated. I'm using .

Dear
I hope you rot in hell with the kind of service your docker people show.

Have a look at this forum ticket.
https://help.nextcloud.com/t/reverse-proxy-on-different-ip-admin-cant-login/187129

I am trying to get a new nextcloud docker instance running.
The nextcloud engineer knows what the problem is I am having.
However, he does not give the answer because he insists I should "read his documentation better"

Well his documentation is 30 pages of text, incomplete and confusing. (1/2)

Hello there. I have bought a beelink s12 pro. It has 16g memory on board. However, I have heard that a n100 can run with 32G.
Who has an intel n100 or beelink s12 pro and can tell me what 32G memory works well with it?
Also I heard rumours it will run 32G but can never use more than 16G.
Any tips apreciated and please boost!

Holy smokes, this is a good deal for a Plex Lifetime Pass - I didn't know they were even still offering it?! Grab a 90% discount code by calling this number. Not sure how long it will last. May only be valid in the U.S.?
