Study on return-to-office mandates gets international attention | University Times | University of Pittsburgh
"The results showed that while many of the companies said they were bringing employees back to the office to improve the bottom line, there were no significant changes in financial performance or firm values after the mandates were implemented. But there was a sharp decrease in employees’ job satisfaction."
🔥 Companies’ hard-line stance on returning to the office is backfiring
— Washington Post
"Thousands of employees at Europe’s largest software company, SAP, have signed a letter saying they feel “betrayed” by the firm’s “radical change in direction” on its back-to-office directive, with many threatening to leave rather than return to offices or work on-site with customers at least three days a week starting in April."
As #Nationwide shifts from a 'work form anywhere' policy to a #hybridwork requirement (to include two days in the office), those #workers who took their employer at their word & shifted their lives to allow them to take advantage of the shift may be now regretting these changes.
Sure there is a transition period for three months, but it goes to show that when your employer offers you a change that seems to good to be true... it likely is (too good to be true).
You know what makes me laugh but not really? Seeing some head of security and CISO roles positions that are open for more than 1 to 3 years because they ONLY wants people to be on-site or ask/force people to relocate.
But more importantly, it shows that these compagnies which many are FINTECH or have lots of sensitive data doesn't care at all about security and are ignorant or simply negligent! (sic)
All tech companies needs to start embracing remote work. There's NO reason to force hybrid or on-site work when you work in tech, absolutely zero ... oups except if the board made a bad investment and rented/bought an office and didn't have any vision about remote work that is now more than 10 years into the making.
I was a little anxious seeing Poly (formerly Plantronics) deliver "business" focused true wireless earbuds. Are these the total package for work AND play? https://somegadgetguy.com/b/3tn

Lands end squall coat, long underwear when it’s super cold. The coat kinda took a dive in quality recently but still a nice light water resistant coat. Showers pass balaclava. Over glasses clear safety goggles when super cold. Used to commute year round in Boston but not so much anymore #HybridWork
My first meeting isn't until 10:00 AM and it's a pleasantly cool, cloudy morning, so I'm taking an hour to work by a fountain in park before heading into the office.
I will never, ever again work for a company that doesn't at least embrace hybrid work, with office hours 100% at the staff's discretion. I will only work for adults, who treat their employees like adults. A beautiful, productive morning like this costs nothing.
Hybrid jobs are just on-site jobs in companies run by adults.
If you believe work can only be done while someone is physically sitting in front of you, you’ve either hired the wrong person or you are the wrong person.
Companies offering #remotework or #HybridWork are #hiring twice as fast as companies that require all employees in office, according to a new analysis of more than 4,500 companies from Scoop Technologies and People Data Lab: https://www.linkedin.com/news/story/flex-work-attracts-talent-5439153/ (LinkedIn)
It's no surprise that a bigger pool of talent to draw from and a mode of working that more people want allows a company to hire faster. #wfh
This is existence proof that #remotework, well, works. Why not tap into the best available talent, no matter where they are?
Companies that become good at this will have a built-in structural advantage.
Companies that force a #ReturnToOffice will likely get stuck with an employee population that's just waiting to jump ship to something less dinosaur-like.
Many companies want their employees back in the office, but Zoom, too? The company that enabled so many businesses to meet remotely during the pandemic is going with a hybrid approach. The Verge has more. https://flip.it/XYQH8a #Technology#HybridWork#Zoom#WorkLifeBalance
“Still, some managers are lamenting that these absences make it difficult for their teams to be productive because getting things done at work apparently requires everyone to be present at the same time, right before dinner. But perhaps 4 to 6 pm — the final hours of a long work day when many aren’t at their most clear-headed — was never a good time to schedule a meeting.”
Cyclists: what's your cold weather gear?
Not sure how many cyclists are around. Anyways, what functional but weirdo looking gear do you use once it starts getting colder?
