I know I'm late to the party, but I just finished watching "The Book of #BobaFett" on #Disney+, and I've got some thoughts:
The lore building and story telling are hugely satisfying. The way it expands the #StarWars universe brings me back to how I felt when I first saw "A New Hope" in the theater.
The creation of #LukeSkywalker is truly amazing. It's like they plucked Mark Hamill out of 1983 for the role. Again, hugely satisfying.
Two years ago yesterday, we bought my parents' house and moved in so that they could move to a smaller place out in the country. While helping my dad pack up some of his stuff, I found one of his old sketchbooks. #starwars#lukeskywalker#sketchbook
What is the obsession in the new era of #StarWars with #maps. We’ve got #Kamino deleted from a map. We’ve got #LukeSkywalker being hidden by a map. Then another map on the wreckage of the death star to find the Emperor. And now a magic map hidden hundreds of years ago in a temple can find where #Thrawn is on #Ahsoka? This is a dumb plot that keeps being reused! STOP WITH THE MAPS!!!
A lot of people are upset about the Hollywood trend of having our childhood heros face their own decline. (See #LukeSkywalker, #NickFury, #IndianaJones, etc.) But the truth is, this is a long standing trope in hero sagas.
Think Beowulf, King David, King Arthur.
Heroes don't stay heroes in literature. The fallen hero is not a new trope.
