Reminder:
The "Freedom" Convoy donated $460,000 to Pierre Poilievre's leadership campaign.
That's why he won't renounce them. They bought him. Imagine a so-called national leader aligning with a group of domestic terrorists."

Success today on many fronts! Eighty seconds of plank, 25 pushups, started with my and I (slowly) completed my first half-marathon around since the injury side-lined me. Now, if I'm honest, the last five or so kilometres were a very real struggle - that annoying little voice to just stop that many runners have heard got very loud, but I managed to push it aside. Very sore, but pleased.

Wowza. What happened to 'buffed, black t-shirted' makeover Pierre ?

Makeover or no makeover...
He has NO plan for climate change,
He has NO viable plan for housing,
He voted NO against child care & child benefits.
He’s says NO to marginalized people.

Got my twenty pushups in during my warmup/stretching, then ventured out for a cool morning in for a 1km walk and 10KM RUN! Now, I know the path to getting back to my pervious volume is going to take time, but I'm seeing progress, so I'm pretty happy.

You do realise that a respirator (N95 mask) will also work against smoke right? I've enjoyed not getting sick with the common cold for years and, if wearing a mask is what it takes to continue that joy, that's what I am going to do.

I had to take a moment to look at StreetView to figure out where that geyser we saw yesterday (Bank st & Riverside) was. It was just before the area turned into a lake, and we were just driving past moments after it started in the early phase of the freak rain event yesterday.

Needed to go back to a 2018 shot to find no cars in the parking spot. Must be a storm sewer access here that popped its lid.

"Ottawa Alert" is a terrible name for the team.

It should be the "Ottawa Otters". That's it for "ot*" words that aren't about ears.

"o*a" has some interesting options...

omega - play hard 60 minutes coach

ovipara - weird egg association

ocarina - no

okra - it does grow here

orca - probably found in local Champlain Sea fossils

Hott could be fun to throw a wrench at the Montreal broadcast crews...

This is an impressive (but very long!) read with some great analysis and tonnes of photos along the proposed alignment. Very much worth your time to digest over the Christmas break if you’re following along with high frequency rail developments in Canada.

An example of the state of things in from someone who is generally unaffected as many of the policies are ostensibly done in benefit of my demographic.

I live in the suburbs and work from home. Most of my counterparts are not in Ottawa so I rarely go downtown for work purposes.

Tomorrow, I have a meeting downtown on Elgin. Central, so you think that if I wanted to take transit instead of drive, that would be doable, even though it's midday, right?

Smoke to blow away from starting mid-day today, but it looks like it might be returning even stronger on Wednesday morning.

I'm not sure if the fire area polygons on Firesmoke.ca are on the fritz, or the fires have expanded that much?

The fire between Val d'Or and Chibougamau is showing a patchy extent of 60km * 60km, maybe 2000 km2? 200k hectares? Another about the same size south of the Robert Bourassa reservoir, much farther north.

Wednesday: 150 seconds of plank, 30 pushups, followed by 10.6 km of (+2°C and misting). Figure I'd try some pushups to see how the should was feeling.

The run was a real slog. Dense, heavy snow, with a layer of slush under it. Sidewalks are an icy mess. I got splashed by two pickup trucks, once about 1km into the run and intentionally about 1 km from home. 🤬

was Inshouha’s Beam! - while I was running for a change, as I ran out of podcasts ~2km from home.

I do not love that a lot of the same driving mentality permeates how people move around on crowded MUPs in If you were in the group of bros loudly ringing your bells in unison to get people walking to move right off the path so you all could blast through the middle so fast I could almost feel you on my left shoulder, well I’ll tell you to fuck off in person when you’re stopped next time too. Slow the hell down and wait a singular minute once in a while
