Today, we're launching Proton Pass, our new password manager, for everyone. Like other Proton services, it’s free, open-source, & end-to-end encrypted. This has been the most popular request, & we’re happy to bring it to you: https://proton.me/blog/proton-pass-launch.

Proton is community-driven. is no different. You can discuss & request new features & get the latest updates on our Reddit community: reddit.com/r/ProtonPass.

To get Proton Pass, visit the Proton Pass website: proton.me/pass.

nim_a,

@protonmail We have to use the same credentials that we use for , right? Doesn't this make it less secure?

krzysztofdrozdowski,

@protonmail Do you have a road map for integrating credit card/personal info? Adding this would make Proton Pass a complete package for me.

If you’re a user residing in the United States, then make sure to opt-out of the new arbitration provisions.

If you don’t opt-out, you can still turn to Swiss courts, but you would have to go through arbitration for any disputes brought and found to have jurisdiction in the US.

Opt-out through written notice to their Swiss address below within 30 days.

is cool thanks to its Chromium base, but for some reason it cannot open . When I navigate to the site it just refuses to connect. Other sites work fine.

Definitely sticking to Firefox for the time being.

Users of @protonvpn, how would you rate their service - especially as a linux user? I've heard that their Linux app is lacking. I am looking to swap over from Mullvad considering that I already pay for @protonmail and @simplelogin already. Would you recommend it?

Interesting post by @protonmail on .

I was personally unaware of such allegations, although reading them, I can imagine why some conspiracy theorist could think of this. But, I personally like that they don't just say this a false, but almost say: "Seriously, like if this was true then..."

As usual, a transparent write-up by the team.

Publius_Aelius,

@Stark9837 @protonmail "...why some conspiracy theorist..."
Hello. To beginning, let's make sure we all understand why shouldn’t use this expression, because:

First of all, the theory is something that has no proof that it has no substantiated facts, and there are tweets, with all the necessary references, so it's not "theory" anymore.

Two, let's not use this term. This expression was introduced into the CIA image to discreet "inconsciousness. -->

I'm considering getting a account and moving at least one of my domains there -- while I'm not interested in leaving Gmail, I currently have too many eggs in that basket, so having an entirely separate alternative in case things go south seems wise.

Opinions? Any unobvious plusses or minuses I might not be aware of? How well does the custom domain management work? (Especially with catch-all addresses, which is certainly what I would do.)

Achieving total anonymity online is difficult – and if you use a service like , you won’t be able to do it.

You can achieve a high level of privacy when you use services like , @torproject, and an email alias service like @simplelogin.

just launched their family plan, 6 people, 3TB storage (shared), and no custom domain required (new)! Seems to be essentially the same as old Visionary, which is probably why they upped Visionary to 6TB recently... Check it out: https://proton.me/blog/proton-family-plan

Please, let's never federate with Facebook or Google. I am very concerned what they will do privacy-wise.

Using privacy oriented browsers like and hardened like and so on. There's a lot you can do to withold your personal data. Don't ever believe it's useless or a ran course. There are always things you can do to give away as less info as possible. Don't give in!

Holy shit, @protonmail just doubled my base storage to six terabytes for , , etc. I’m only using a little over 16 GB.

Granted I’ve been a paid subscriber since the summer of 2016 (first on their Plus plan, then on Visionary starting the following year). But this is ridiculous.

mjgardner,

Thanks to whomever signed up for Plus via my referral link! You got a free month and I got a nice credit to my subscription

mjgardner,

@snonux You’re in luck. It looks like @protonmail heard your plea and introduced a family plan today: https://proton.me/blog/proton-family-plan

It’s literally identical to the legacy Visionary plan I have aside from having 3 TB of shared storage instead of the 6 TB they just upped Visionary to.

Firs mastodon.social spammed, then GitHub outage, now Protonmail down... this day is going great.

tldr, to random

Search on Mastodon is lousy.

  • I think Protonmail is down.
  • I do a search for ‘Protonmail’ and it shows only mentions of it from my instance…
  • …a single post, by me recommending the service, three weeks ago.

Federated search needs to happen sooner rather than later.

tldr,

@hl Aha, thanks.

That’s a great example of why search is lousy in Mastodon. @bazurk posted with the hashtag . A search for ‘protonmail’ didn’t find that post, presumably because it treats hashtags differently.
