Today at @longreads, we're highlighting a new reading list from Kanya Kanchana for those who love to make lists.
"To love a list is to partake in letter and word, form and change. To make lists is to join a long line of list makers, to indulge in a timeless art, to break down the artificial wall that separates thinking and doing, thinkers and doers."
@bookstodon Please recommend a good basic privacy-respecting non-social reading list tracker for iOS/macOS. My reading list is a mix of print, audio, and library books. Once read, I like to note how well I liked it, if I didn't finish (and why), and make a few optional comments. What works for you and why? Thanks for your boosts and help! #bookstodon#books#ReadingList#reading#TBR
@leapingwoman@bookstodon I’ve been really enjoying https://hardcover.app, but it is social unfortunately however your account can essentially be private. You can import your history from goodreads and storygraph. Has an iOS app, and website. Lets you create private custom lists and add private notes to the book. Also seems to be the only one with an api, which is a big plus for me since I’m a developer.
Neil Gaiman said “Short stories are tiny windows into other worlds and other minds and other dreams. They are journeys you can make to the far side of the universe and still be back in time for dinner.” In our latest feature, longtime contributor Pravesh Bhardwaj has curated 10 short stories, all freely available to be read online.
Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, Satoshi Yagisawa (2009, trans. 2023)
Poignant tale of a young woman who, through a series of mishaps, ends up working for her eccentric uncle in his secondhand book shop. Captures the spirit of very dark days that gradually turn into light, and at the heart of it all, magic that only comes from rediscovering the things you love.
Just like in previous months I have compiled the list of books that I have read during November, and it was less than a dozen books. Check out the penultimate list of the items that I read.
Looking forward to reading this book by @histoftech that just arrived in the post on Friday! Got a book on Theranos to finish, after which this has leapfrogged into the next spot! 📚
Just like in previous months I have compiled the list of books that I have read during October, and it was less than a dozen books. Read the list of the items that I did read.
