Yesterday, I was in a conversation arguing that the #ProPalestine protests and #StopCopCity and #ClimateChange protests in Europe are all fronts in the same broader fight and are a sign of a rising tide of anger against the global elite.
But I left out an important protest movement that may be most directly targetting the powerful who are destroying our invaluable planet. How could I have forgotten #TeamOrca?!?
“Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. And then remember this. The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that.” | Karis Nemik (5 BBY)
WEEK 30: The Marriott Hotel in NYC is holding a recruitment event for the Atlanta PD today. Activists from the encampments and Stop Cop City had some thoughts about it 😂
The person being arrested was "trespassing" in the plaza. Apparently. #FreePalestine#StopCopCity
In 2008, the French government raided the small village of Tarnac, initiating a massive terrorism case that subjected ten defendants to a decade-long ordeal. The case ended in a total defeat for the prosecution.
Yet today, at the bond hearing for Jack Mazurek, who is accused of taking action to #StopCopCity, Atlanta prosecutors called attention to the presence in Jack's house of books associated with the exonerated Tarnac defendants.
For the prosecutors engaged in this witch hunt, facts are beside the point. All that matters is using the blunt force of the judicial process itself to try to crush dissent.
"Emory Stop Cop City dropped banners holding the university and administration accountable for their involvement in the cop city project.
We demand that Greg Fenves, president of Emory, step down from the Atlanta committee for progress and that Emory publicly boycott Brasfield and Gorrie, the main contractor for the cop city project."
Protesters just disrupted a #sxsw panel with Andre Dickens, mayor of #Atlanta, on behalf of the #StopCopCity movement. Dickens fled the panel, hounded by protesters, and it continued without him.
I was briefly detained by police and sxsw staff upon exiting the event. #Austin
On the latest episode of #ThisIsAmerica, we roundup the news and direct action across the US, from #StopCopCity to rent strikes to blockades in solidarity with #Palestine.
We then speak to antifascist Jermey White, about the ongoing case of several antifascists in #SanDiego who face felonies for protesting a group of violent Proud Boys and American Guard members.
We also speak to two people in #Austin about the upcoming 'Smash By Smash West' counter-summit and @franklinlopez speaks on his brand new book for kids and the need for more space for parents and kids within autonomous movements.
A march last Sunday night that went through downtown Tucson in solidarity with the #StopCopCity movement ended with windows smashed at two downtown banks — a Wells Fargo and a PNC Bank.
“Life at camp is proof that we can live and experience collective joy outside of the rigid confinement of the capitalist system. The Summit camp is a beautiful experiment on the horizon of autonomy and mutual aid!”
Check out our roundup and report on the recent summit to #StopCopCity in #Tucson, #Arizona, which brought together over two dozen chapters of the Weelaunee Defense Society, as hundreds in #NYC also took to the streets against the project.
On the final day of the #StopCopCity summit in Arizona, multiple protesters locked down in front of the suburban mansion of a Nationwide Insurance executive to pressure Nationwide to stop supporting police militarization.
Across the country in New York City, 200 people marched to the joint offices of AXA XL and Nationwide Insurance, both of which profit from the ongoing genocide in Gaza as well as their ties to the Atlanta police foundation and Cop City. Over 100 protesters stormed to the building, hanging banners and disrupting business.
Tonight, demonstrators marched through Tucson, Arizona in solidarity with the movement to #StopCopCity. Windows were broken at PNC Bank, which funds the Mountain Valley Pipeline, and Wells Fargo. A Wells Fargo executive is on the board of the Atlanta Police Foundation, the organization that is pushing for the city of Atlanta to channel untold millions of dollars into the construction of a wildly unpopular police militarization facility.
As people gather in Arizona this weekend for the Nationwide Summit to #StopCopCity, we offer a zine version of the latest chapter in our ongoing history of the movement, "Don’t Stop: Continuing the Fight against Cop City":
