In today's wild movie news, Maggie Gyllenhaal is directing a remake of the 1935 classic Bride of Frankenstein, apparently? 🤯
It'll star Penelope Cruz as the bride, Christian Bale as Frankenstein and Peter Sarsgaard playing a detective? Looks like they're starting production on it this year. That's gonna be a must-see for me 😂
A THEATER CRITIC TURNS SLEUTH in this glossy, stylish, erudite psychological thriller. Lots of sharp observation about contemporary New York and a brilliantly twisty plot. A MINUS

HOW TO SAVE THE WORLD? The characters in Naomi Alderman’s crisp near-future technothriller have a lot of ideas—some of them on a collision course with others. Action and deft satire blend in this high-energy yet thoughtful read. A MINUS
SHARP PRIVATE EYE thriller follows a detective and his childhood best friend, now an investigative reporter, to Mexico on the trail of a seasoned criminal. Lots of relatable characters and some great descriptions. SOLID B
Looking for #book recommendations on CD for my dad to listen to (his eyesight isn't good enough to read books anymore). He likes stuff like #JohnGrisham but he's already read them so many times. Courtroom, crime #thrillers and #western s are good, no fantasy please. He was listening to a western called "the tracker" but he just said he's tired of it because it's too episodic, there isn't really a singular plot building up throughout the book. Thanks!
NEAR-FUTURE NOIR THRILLER, set in a Pacific Northwest sodden with “broken weather,” combines lots of action and a colorful cast of characters for a highly entertaining read.
