Instead of ads for modern products, the billboards are all old 20th century advertisements. Some, for businesses that no longer exist, such as Mark Foy's department store.
Honored that "Point of Rocks Train Station" has won 2nd place in the 2/17/2024 #FineArtAmerica contest "Rural Train Stations" held by the "Big Sky Of Art" group. Thanks to contest admin Mia DeLode and to everyone who voted for my image. Congratulations to the other winners … great images all!!!
Matsushiro Station is a - by now - disused railway station of the Nagano Electric Railway on the former Yashiro Line, around 10km south of Nagano’s city center. When I visited less than a year before it was decommissioned, it exuded a very nostalgic and melancholic mood. I shot some details around the station, as well as an image with the station master.
While I was away - morning arrival in a small train station in the mountains around Munster (Vosges, Alsace), with a bit a snow, I had then no clue of the winter wonderland that would be awaiting us.
#fujifilm X-S10 15-45mm, non edited jpg with personal settings. I wanted to show the splendid and bright colours of a yet silent and peaceful winter morning
You are waiting for the train to appear out of the fog. You can’t see far down the tracks in either direction. You are taking it on faith that the train will be from the same place as yesterday, and once you board, that it will take you where you expect to go. Other than prior experience, you cannot be sure that this is true.
Nyíregyháza, 1964. The waiting room of the train station at Nyíregyháza, a small city in north-east Hungary (about the size of Ōtepoti in Aotearoa) . A love this photo, and can only guess at the many stories of those waiting, especially the woman with her hand on her face the middle foreground.
