New video! I'm restoring a 1970s Commodore calculator. Spoiler: I used a Dremel tool to spice it up a bit at one point...

I know this is a long shot, but do any of you have a hotsync cable for a m100 or m105? My Palm won't sync reliably and I think the cable might have a break in it.

Hey everyone, spotted a Vintage Osborne 1 Portable Computer up for auction. Currently going for $222. I’m lucky enough to already have one of these I picked up at a hamfest. The auction ends tomorrow at 7:10 PM. Check it out and see if it’s worth a bid: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/196223407

Does anyone know what kind of #audio plug is this? Are there any adapters to connect it to normal 3.5mm audio #sockets?

The speaker box says "Made in England by Fidelity Radio LTD.

Please Reboost, thanks.

🔎📚 The Conner CP3541 540MB IDE disk refuses to provide its disk image 😠 The system detects it and it spins, but not a single byte can be read - failed command: READ SECTOR(S). We suspect that the head is stuck.

⌨️📺 The DEC VT100 is a historically significant computer terminal. It was available in Slovenia under the name KOPA d.d. 1000. We obtained our specimen in 2006, and it is in working condition, but it lacked a keyboard. Now we've tracked one down and hope to try it out soon! 💪

Was digging through some old bins in storage and found a few things. The Handspring Visor still worked after I put some new batteries in it. The iBook is long long gone but my kids loved that computer.

RIP, beloved 70s coffee grinder. Served me well for a year or so (after I found it on eBay) then the bearing started to make a grinding noise (no pun intended). Tried to clean and lubricate it today. It worked really smoothly for a minute afterwards, then it literally just exploded, even ripped out one of the threaded screws inserts. It likely got stuck and the motor windings shorted out violently. Can’t even move the shaft now, probably welded to itself. 😫

Oh wow, thought this was gone. I was looking for a little mic to let my son use on his computer.

Maybe I should get it fixed up and go back???

Just saw this on the Mastodon website, and is there along with !

There's a whole third-party apps category for retro computing.

Now only if I had the skill to make a client for older iOS versions like iOS 6 and below...

Happy 30th birthday to the Apple Newton which was released on this day in 1993!

While the Apple Newton had its challenges and eventually paved the way for more advanced mobile devices, it remains an essential milestone in the evolution of portable computing.

All about Xerox PARC from The Chip Letter.

PARC is one of the richest slices of computing history. And the mentioned Hiltzik book is one of the best computing history books I've read.
