Ghoul Knight on a monster flea? Fuck yeah.

Here's the colour chart for the cockroach parts and some details.

Long legged insect model (brown, like a cockroach) with a light green caparace. It’s standing over a light grey/blue base (will be ice and snow) and has a ghoul with a lance as a rider.

I took yesterday as a mental health day. Sent the toddler to daycare then spent the rest of the day making happy little trees, ordering cheap Chinese takeout for lunch, and binge watching . This is about 12 hours worth of work to get to this point. Finishing the basing and painting should take 2 to 3 hours. Not sure how long the foliage will take. I also need to figure out where I'm gonna store them...




18 aluminum foil trees on 2" bases. Each stands about 5" tall. Each tree has 4 to 6 branches, and 3 to 5 small roots around the base of the tree. The trees have been covered in hot glue and primed black with Mod Podge and paint. 2 trees in front have some sand applied to their bases.

I’ve been in a real painting slump lately but I did manage to nearly finish these guys tonight (I started them weeks ago). They’ve got some real wonky eyes because painting eyes inside a helmet is a massive pain in the ass and I had zero patience for it today. All that’s left to do is give them a matte varnish and add sand and grass to the bases.

How did you settle on your MC's appearance?

I often have a good idea of what they look like ... but sometimes it's more vague. I use storyboarding to help me consolidate who they are so that I can translate that a little better. Pinterest is super-handy for this.

I'm knitting a roly poly from a pattern. I deviated from the pattern when knitting the antennae, going from a photograph and using shaping techniques I've learned over the years. Here it is posing with a centipede plush.

The pattern focuses on the rolling aspect of roly pollies, resulting in a curled body with ridges down the top. This also makes it narrower, lending it proportions more similar to a grub.
