Apologizing for using AI-generated image looks like the new sport for public relations managers in 2024 🤣 :

New one for me You can't simply install Wacom tablet drivers on Ventura. The Apple’s setting will have a fit and get you to allow permissions in settings. But they are already on. To get them to work, you have to delete them from the list!
They’ll ask to get back in and then they’ll work.

My favourite thing is to come to the office in the morning and have to spend the first 15 mins working out why my tablet no longer connects to my computer.

I just posted a new video with my solutions for mobile digital painting on GNU/Linux! It's not sponsored, about a refurbished 5 y/o hardware, and relatively low budget. 🙂

Thanks for the new driver update, Wacom. I really love typing random characters everywhere I click. It's wonderful. Really. -_-

@ned Totally, I get that. That’s how I was introduced to those tablets about the same timeframe. It makes sense.

I try to use an old Wacom Bamboo tablet on GNU/Linux.

But I can't use the tablet to rotate the canvas on Krita.

I tested with a more recent tablet someone lend me and it work.

Is it a limitation of the driver or the tablet ?

East- techies, is there a / / compatible character recognition input method system that would allow someone to use a tablet or touchscreen-capable laptop (or some Linux-compatible device) to write traditional "as if writing on paper"?

mom has been stuck on Android for the past 8 years because learning phonetics-based / shape-based keyboard IMs on a computer seems way too complex.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_input_methods_for_computers#Shape-based would give anyone a panic attack.

Out of a whim, I decided to get my 10 year old 13HD Companion Hybrid out of storage. no longer supports this model, but I got it to run with their oldest driver that supports Windows 11.

I'm not sure what I will use it for, but it was fun trying out the different brushes with . These days I use for most of my graphical design work, but it's nice to have options.

My microcontroller is actually reading data from the pen now. I need to tweak some of the resistor values (The incoming data is still clipping, and the integrator has some more range it could potentially use).

Currently using the RP2040 onboard ADC, which isn't great in terms of accuracy, and I also have a very small window in which to sample my signal. But I do have a footprint for an external ADC on the pcb, which might improve things.

3 things are visible in this video. the foreground there is my hand moving a wacom pen around above a purple PCB, behind that there is my oscilloscope, showing the strength and state of all the bits in the data package. In the background, there is an arduino serial plotter, showing the strength of all these signals. The serial data seems to have some jumpy data sometimes, but mostly looks alright.

Has anyone had any luck getting the digitizer on their "tablet" (mine's an X200t) working under ?

I followed the steps in the wiki, but no dice.

I may be in the market for a new graphics tablet.

What's the good Wacom alternative these days? Huion?

Any personal recommendations?

Seriously Wacom, what wild lapse of judgement in your addled mind made you think it was a smart idea to make an update to generate random punctuation characters everywhere a person taps with their pen?! And why the hell have you not rolled back this ridiculous update yet? Do you guys not test ANYTHING these days?!

For a device that claims to be "plug-and-play" on it's product page, I sure spend a lot of time trying to work out why my tablet suddenly decided to stop working from one day to the next.
