I am an amateur hobbyist coder, with a bit of experience in java/kotlin for android
I'm trying to get into Godot gameDev
If anyone has advice (technical or otherwise) for how to progress from the VERY basics, I am open to hearing it.
New 5-frame nuc picked up & installed yesterday. We've also relocated the location of the colony/hive to the garden area where it is easier to get to & it is warmer in the winter. Now I'm going to research & learn all about treating for mites. #beekeeping#beginner#bees 🐝🐝🐝
I got a used DSLR camera ( Canon EOS 100D ) and this is one of the experiments I did using aperture priority and trying exposure compensation too #beginner#beginnerPhotography#photography

I'll admit I'm one of those people who Queen's Gambit lit or relit an interest in chess. Before that, I had known the piece movement, but never really got into it. After a brief spark of interest I started playing a friend online who had zero knowledge, and after a year, is consistently crushing me. I don't even have the confidence to play strangers anonymously yet. Anyway, this isn't about me, it's about chess, just thought I'd provide a little background first. 1/2
If you're new to the game, and want to get an idea of how to start, watch this video. He didn't know Pia is a Grandmaster, but even Pia said his teaching was really great. I love his passion. https://youtu.be/7L9NNSadm4g?si=_cIH1O66FhdVWJez
I've been relaxing by sewing together a cape for my partner. It still needs hem decorations, but I am proid of myself getting the pieces together correctly. :P
It wont be a showstopper, but could be something they can wear next fall when it's finished.
SO got us a cool reflector telescope. I've only ever used kid-targeted refractors before so it's an adventure.
I'm gonna gripe that if your "beginners guide" uses the terms "Dec, or collimation" or any of a dozen other telescope specific terms without defining them, it's not a beginners guide!
The quick installation guide said things like "Attach to Dec screw" with no picture or further explanation. Gah!
It's late, may as well post.
An attempt to move the 16" #telescope to the back of the house and a darker sky was too much for my back. So I'll stick to shooting to the east and setting targets like Messier 13 before it says goodbye.

I’ve been thinking I wanna make something with Svelte. I have no previous real experience with web development in general (I can write code however I’ve never done any feature development, only test automation) but I think that might be a nice hobby to give it a go, but I’m having some trouble coming up with an idea what to do.
Anyone have any ideas what would be a good thing to make? A simple starting point ought to be enough, I’m not trying to build any real product here. A different framework is also good to suggest, but I’ve heard that Svelte is “easier” from the developers in our company so I’d prefer to use that.
I wish I knew what is different about my brain chemistry these days, that is allowing me to kinda sorta enjoy my little workouts, to look forward to them and regret when I miss a day.
Whenever I have tried to develop this habit in the past I have hated every minute of it. It's frustrating because if I had managed to develop and stick to that routine back when I was still kinda in shape, my quality of life now would be so much higher.

My first finished piece. Garter knit scarf. Was suppose to be 3ft long came out to be more like 2 1/2 ft 😅, maybe it'll stretch a bit if I hang it up. Going to try a second scarf in a different color next.
#knitting#beginner
Well so far I've lost track of the number of times I've restarted knitting the scarf. Either I'm not doing my tension right or the needles I have aren't right (they become too tight at times or give way suddenly messing up my stitch). Well I'll pick it back up later. Almost tempted to try it with my round needles instead and see if that's better.
Just got some knitting supplies and want to get started. Picked up a couple of books from a book sale now what would be a good first project? I've never knitted before and am thinking a scarf. Still need to pick up the yarn though. 😅
