Fellas, over at Dreamwidth we're gonna read together New Spring, the prequel of The Wheel of Time series, starting tomorrow :blobcatcoffee:

We're doing this book only, so there is no need to commit to read the whole series if you find the idea overwhelming

It has been pretty fun to talk about the other books in the comm and we'd love to have more people join us :blobcoffee:

It's Ladies night, and Jane is hosting. It used to be an open book club, but after one of the husband's tried to join it was quickly renamed Ladies Book Club.

I've been sent upstairs for the next 2 hours. I'm not sure 6 Ladies need four bottles of wine and a cooler full of beer, but what do I know. I wasn't allowed to join Ladies Book Club.

Hi, friends.
I am thinking of starting a book club. I want to primarily meet up once a month. Preference will be given to times that benefit Europe/The UK/Me as a South African.
I want this to be very chilled, no real pressure, but I'm also interested in doing polls for book genres and associated books, etc.
We'd have a discussion and announcement group on WhatsApp. An actual meeting place can be discussed there. I also would prefer for it to primarily be a text-based group, so if that's something you're against, this might not be the place for you.

If you're interested, please dm me and let me know.

Boost for reach, if you can.

This month on #BowieBookClub we read "The 42nd Parallel" by John #DosPassos, a big sweeping tale of America at the turn of the 20th century, including door-to-door book salesmen getting chased by a farmer with a shotgun, which happened all the time back then. #bookclub #Bowie #bookstodon @bookstodon #reading

I've distributed copies of to my coworkers for our new with a half sheet of questions to consider while reading.

Bonus question included:
Can you write a short inspired poem on the back of this sheet? 😈

Fowlerville District Library's video! https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJQakc6m/

It’s only in the last few years I’ve been able to set a book down if I’m not into it/hate it /at the wrong time & place for it. Previously I felt almost guilty not to finish a book - like I was letting myself & the book down!

choices I really try to finish, but hanging on to the grim end can often leave me with a reading block.

Looking for a new book club to join. I prefer fiction, not really into thrillers, but anything else is open. Must be virtual. Bonus points for disabled and or queer focused. Any suggestions? Also considering starting my own in case i can't find what I'm looking for.

May's My book is set in Poland & based on real events, written by Spanish author Mario Escobar. I think this is going to be a pretty dark story.

The Teacher Of Warsaw has 45 chapters so that's roughly 11 chapters per week. I'm going to listen to the narrated by Zach Hoffman, which I bought @ Libro.fm https://tidd.ly/3LEyqGF (aff link)

I only managed to read 5 books in 2022. My brain was just too broken to focus on words on a page. 😩 I'm hoping to change that in 2023.

I was finally able to pick up a book earlier this month. I devoured the beginning. Then my brain started to be an asshole, so the middle took a while to get through. But I devoured the ending over the past couple of days.

Book 1: The Book Eaters by Sunyi Dean
Finished Reading: 24 April 2023

Another book that I would never have purchased on my own but thoroughly enjoyed. That's the reason that I joined this book club in the first place. 😊

Book 3: White Horse by Erika T. Wurth
Finished Reading: 11 May 2023

What’s everyone reading? I’ve officially finished every Agatha Christie novel, and am looking for someone like her! Have read all the Dick Francis and Dorothy Sayers books too. Any suggestions?
