Due to the peculiarly brutal ja totalitarian nature of European Imperialist Colonilism of the 1800-1900’s, our etymology of the word has become tainted with the idea of ”overseas”.
However, #russia has always been a #colonial#imperialist power. And it is colonial in the true (original) sense of the word: It is not content to dominate militarily, it also seeks to destroy the culture, and populate the region with it’s own people and #language.
