I’m truly excited that we have two more calls with our potential new LMS vendors to discuss terms of contract. Fingers crossed that we move away from our current Learning Management System in 2025. With advancement in technology and AI, we need a better platform for our learners. Next steps will be to get buy-in from leaders once we make a recommendation and discuss the IT aspects of the implementation process. 💻🤓

I’ve been attending webinars on top of my day-to-day the last two days with a prospective Learning Management System (LMS) and I’ve learned so much information in this time. I really hope we can get the buy-in and IT support for implementation next year with one of our top two recommendations. Technology has vastly improved and we need to provide access to a better platform and external training 🤓

I just wrote up instructions for creating an assignment or lab in my university's LMS, so that my TAs can do that for me. Mind you, we don't actually use the to hand out, collect, or grade this assignment or lab, this just puts it on the calendar and adds it to the gradebook. It is an EIGHTEEN STEP PROCESS, per assignment, assuming that I didn't forget anything, and requires changes in two different parts of the interface that each take several seconds to load.

This is bonkers.

My just bought into Brightspace from D2L, which is a giant crappy . It's so bad. We had Blackboard before, and I never thought I would miss that garbage.

Anyway, so BS has import and export from CSV, except IT'S NOT CSV. Inexplicably, every line except the first starts and ends with a # character. And this is IN THE DOCUMENTATION. It's so "the system knows when the next set of data begins". Which, in CSV, is what the newline is for. If this isn't , I'm SHOCKED.

It's interesting that will apparently stick with a proprietary system, even as prices soar. However, it will migrate off an system as soon as any costs are incurred.
