Thanks to my recent business trip to the US I was able to visit a decidedly comics-barren Newbury Comics store. I stumbled upon Beirut’s Gulag Orkestar, which I’m quite happy to have found.
Stumbled on a copy of this yesterday and am giving it a first listen. Quieter than likely for an original pressing but it will benefit from a more thorough cleaning. More subdued than I was expecting but it’s setting a proper mood for a leisurely stat holiday morning…

Erscheinen wird sie am 14.09.2023 - exakt 25 Jahre nach Erscheinen des Albums 1998. Die CD wird übrigens (zumindest erstmal) nicht mehr nachgepresst).
Das hier ist übrigens die erste Vinylausgabe dieses Albums 😎😉
Mal sehen, ob für die Tour noch Exemplare übrig blieben… 😉

There’s a new LP song out from the forthcoming album. What a remarkable instrument LP’s voice is. I’m going to an LP concert in Toronto in November. They are playing the city a few days after the two The Beaches gigs I’m travelling for. Result.
It's absolutely beat to hell, but when I find an original copy (JP's old copy, according to the cover) of a classic like Paranoid at Goodwill for less than $3, I can't just leave it there. It's too damn beautiful and badass. 🤘
To open or not open mint records?
I have a huge problem. I want to listen to my vinyl records but at the same time i want to keep them in mint condition to preserve their value....
