The new official Pixelfed app is rolling out, and includes improved onboarding and the ability to view Post Edit history (editing posts in-app is coming in the next release!)
⚠️ PSA for Admins: Please update your pixelfed instance ASAP
We're dropping support for v0.11.5 and below in the next #pixelfedApp release and making v0.11.6 the min version for inclusion in to the https://pixelfed.org/servers directory.
v0.11.8 will be released later this weekend with Post Edit support, and other improvements! #pixelfed#PSA
You may notice that the latest #pixelfedApp release will sync your saved settings when logging in.
We have pioneered a standard to sync settings between official and third party apps!
We've been working closely with @PixelDroid on this, and look forward to furthering our commitment to open APIs and developers with more innovative collaborations and features in the near future 🚀
Even more #pixelfedApp progress (don't stop me now)
✅ - New README
✅ - AGPL license
✅ - Code of Conduct
✅ - Security Policy
✅ - Updated old repo readme
✅ - Updated https://pixelfed.org/mobile-apps with a link to the source code
I also pushed all the code, I'm now developing the mobile app in the open! It feels great 😎
How would you feel if I ran a centralized service for @pixelfed, specifically for the #pixelfedApp, that would facilitate discovery via uploading contacts list from the app?
This would allow new people to discover accounts in their phone contacts, making it easier to find friends and family’s accounts.
I know this has significant privacy implications, so I welcome your feedback, boosts appreciated 🙏
We're rewriting our Android + iOS mobile apps to be faster, leaner and easier to use!
If you're participating in our Android and iOS open betas, the new app will be rolling out in the next week or two. We anticipate a general app store release in May or June 🚀
