🔥 Companies’ hard-line stance on returning to the office is backfiring
— Washington Post

"Thousands of employees at Europe’s largest software company, SAP, have signed a letter saying they feel “betrayed” by the firm’s “radical change in direction” on its back-to-office directive, with many threatening to leave rather than return to offices or work on-site with customers at least three days a week starting in April."

Remember this when governments try to mandate .

tl;dr: it’s about commercial real estate investments.

My is tomorrow and I'm officially freaking out. I'm low on space and big on stuff, and I worry that my background is going to be incredibly distracting.

I just snapped this pic from my webcam; would anyone mind letting me know what you think? Is this going to be too much?

"How unpopular are RTO mandates? 99% of companies who had one saw a drop in employee satisfaction, study"

Yup! ESAT is not the last word on talent, but this is why businesses offering - esp. - will win.

Such transparent manipulation to get managers to quit without severance.

  1. Allow workers to work remotely
  2. Shutter local offices
  3. Mandate
  4. Attrition!

Remember that this is not the first time IBM pulled this trick. They did the same thing in 2017, when they were being hailed as an innovative company for reducing cost by not having physical offices. They forced people to RTO and caused a bunch of people to quit without severance.

“IBM to managers: Move close to an office or quit”

sucks. Now a study finds it doesn’t even benefit the company’s bottom line. But it sure does piss off workers.

If you refuse to hire remote workers, it will get harder to find talent.

And that's ok, because if you can hire remote workers but refuse to do so, you suck at business and deserve to fail at it.

I am in need for help and apologies for asking again.

Please if anyone knows of ANY remote jobs open for the USA, Midwest, or IL specifically please please do inform me. I have a little over 10 years of experience in a variety of customer service related roles from cashier/store associate, trained as a pharmacy technician, have been an optician for the past year and a half. I am open to a lot of things aside from perhaps call center or a sales-only position. Anything else I am able to learn and absolutely willing!
