I caught the start of a nest in my engine bay. They were using the insulation from the underside of the plastic engine cover and stuffing it between the intake runners and the top of the engine.

What are people using as rodent deterrents these days?

Very interesting to hear what NA CEO Ted Ogawa has to say about investment in the US.

Essentially, Toyota is ignoring EPA guidelines about BEV mix and focusing entirely on customer demand, and they will not make BEVs in numbers higher than expected demand lest they waste their resources.

Toyota’s now-well-known reticence in jumping into the BEV bandwagon, preferring to sell instead, may prove to be the better bet. The EPA is likely to reduce their mandate for 50% BEV new car sales by 2030. If they do, then Toyota’s strategy would have been proven right.

Reminder that the difference between BEVs and PHEVs in terms of emissions is much smaller than the BEV promoters have claimed. In fact, it is arguable that small PHEVs are the greenest cars you can buy today. In reality, BEVs are only one type of green car, not the only kind. And the obsession with only BEVs is just a fad. Even a cult at times.

Japanese automakers were simply paying attention to the facts, not buying into a fad. As a result, they are making massive profits while the rest of the industry losses billions on their BEV programs.

Today, a more sophisticated electric three wheeler than yesterday’s Sinclair C5 - the Toyota i-Road. I drove this in 2014 on a press trip to cover a mobility trial in Grenoble that offered i-Roads for hire. Amazing machine. Driven by hub motors in the front wheels, steering is via the rear wheel. ‘Active Lean’ technology means it leans into corners like a motorcycle. Great to drive. ‘The agility of a motorcycle, the comfort of a car’, said Toyota. ☑️

Yet another #recall:

‘Do not drive’: #Toyota recalls 50,000 older US cars over deadly airbag fears Toyota said on Monday it is urging the owners of 50,000 older US vehicles to get immediate recall repairs because an airbag inflator could explode and potentially kill motorists.

The Japanese automaker said the “do not drive” advisory covers some 2003-04 model year Corolla, 2003-04 Corolla Matrix, and 2004-05 Rav 4s with Takata air bag inflators. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2024/jan/30/toyota-recall-cars-airbag-inflator

'Do not drive': Toyota recalls some older vehicles including the 2003-2004 Corolla & Corolla Matrix, as well as the 2004-2005 RAV4. Toyota said if the aging airbag deploys, a part inside is more likely to explode and shoot sharp metal fragments which could cause SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH to the driver or passengers.

is urging owners to contact their local dealer instead of driving there to have the issue fixed free.

#Toyota's slow slide to obscurity is continuing.

#EVs will never be more than 30% of the market says someone who is sniffing copium in large quantities

China end of last year was aproaching 40% market share already, and China is the larges Auto market in the world

Europe is 20-23% #EV

#NewZealand was close to 50% (a short term blip but still)

#Norway is in the 90% range

Not sure what to think about Toyota as they seem to go around everything expect cars. Their obession to cars is one thing (even if thermodynamics says no) but they have also worked on cold fusion in late 1990s. Would they have put that effort on battery development and we might have sensible electric cars instead of oversized suvs.
