Ufff, the #Apple#iPad advert, so tone deaf for our times.
Wrong on so many counts, celebrating the destruction of human creativity and artistry, and contrary to all the R-principles ... rethink, reduce, reuse, repair, recover, recycle, refurbish, remanufacture, repurpose, reclaim, retrofit, retro-cool, revival, reading the room ...
... all under the heavy, grey-steeled palm of an uncaring machine.
@vriesk Yes, they should be durable, and pass minimum tests for durability. And they should also be repairable and upgradeable, and pass minimum standards for these aspects too. I think companies like Fairphone and Framework are going in the right direction with this!
@vriesk Agreed! There should be the possibility for both third-party hardware and third-party software! Have you tried installing another browser on iOS?
@vriesk ... yeah, will only get a thick cover or case slapped on it, or flex and crack the minute someone sits, having forgotten it on a chair or sofa. Oh whoops. LOLZ.
It annoys me when they describe #Bluesky as decentralised. It currently isn't. It's invite-only. There's only one app. Only one org. There's a protocol, but it isn't currently interoperable with anything. Just please stop. Please don't say it's decentralised until it is.
The top ~50 Google searches are people typing in websites without the .net or .com because they can't remember the full domain name. (Including "google" which is hilarious.)
Is this a sad reflection on society, or proof that we need a more advanced search engine that actually answers questions rather than simply serving up promoted links and SEO-optimized clickbait.
I'm tentatively excited about this rumored ChatGPT search engine, even if I still have reservations about the future of AI.
@killyourfm Don't you fear that websites will essentially become obsolete, existing merely as a forgotten backend to the black box of omni-knowledgeable AI?
Depuis quelques semaines sur #Twitter , pas un seul fil de discussion sans son bot "mes nudes dans mon profil". Quand je dis "pas un seul", j'en suis à 100% sur des dizaines de fils de discussion consultés.
Thanks to my mate Felipe for persuading me to rock climb after an absence of about 10 years! We did the marvellous 5 pitch Espolon Cerro del Toro outside Motril.
I felt really comfortable apart from the last 4+ slab which stretched my ageing (has-been) ability to it's maximum in my scrambling approach boots. Rock slippers would have been much easier. A nice 60m abseil to finish.
Brought back a lot of happy memories today & proved that there is still life in the old dog 🤣
