/ Israeli Faces Charges After Assaulting a Protestor in NY Who Addressed Him as “genocidal Jew”

An Israeli named Yotam Dankner has been charged in New York with “strangulation, assault and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation” of a protestor named Simon Miler. Dankner claims Miler addressed him using the allegedly slur "genocidal Jew."

Dankner, who is represented by multiple lawyers, expressed surprise at being charged. His lawyer stated: "The DA's office has decided to weigh into the current Gaza-Israeli situation by arresting and charging a private citizen who was insulted by an antisemitic bigot who repeatedly used the antisemitic slur against him."

On social media, Dankner had previously commented on protests against Israel's policies in the occupied Palestinian territories, referring to the protesters' ethnicities and genders, presumably in an attempt to delegitimize their criticism.

Dankner was released on bail and awaits his next court date.

So, in November of this year, we`ll have a choice for President.
A Mussolini fascist or a hardcore Neocon and avowed Zionist.

I reckon the big decider will be what voter turnout will be like.
My guess is that it will be low on Democratic side, but, about normal on the Repuke side. This would lead to a clean Mussolini sweep of Prez, House, and Senate.

Anybody able to talk me out of this gloomy viewpoint? Or should we all just make sure we have a safe landing spot outside the US?

@cstross @AdrianVolt Big cities in UK may have good transport. Smaller towns and villages don't. London wants to extend DLR and Bakerloo line and now has these Loop buses to complement other forms of transport.

@cstross @AdrianVolt I'm not quite that old but in 50s 660s and early 70s public transport was great even for our village - though we had to walk to the bus stop. We went everywhere by public transport. It cost 2 1/2 D for my bus fare to school but if we got off the stop before and walked the rest of the way we save a hapenny which we could use to buy sweets at the pub over the road from school

This instance handles, on average, 6.5 reports of antisemitism a day.

Why is that significant? It's significant because Babka already suspends individual accounts, and Limits entire instances.

Despite this, we deal with ~6.5 new antisemitic accounts per day.

And yet, if we look at the graphs from Fediverse Observer, the number of active users on the Fediverse has gone down!

So what exactly does that mean, if the number of antisemitic accounts continues to grow and the number of active users continues to shrink?

It means that the number of antisemites on the Fediverse is quite large, and what we're seeing isn't new antisemites as much as it is antisemitism being so normalized that people feel comfortable spouting hate, and that despite blocking or silencing thousands of accounts, hate continues to be emboldened.

The US approves a bill to provide Israel with a 9.2bn of "humanitarian assistance".
This package will include military aid, together with "some" funds for Gaza.
Of course as soon as Israel will receive the funds for Gaza well immediately pass them to UNRWA or the PA. No doubt.

    My thought on Neuralink implanting tech in human heads for the first time:

    Brain implants are one of those technologies where the MTBF for the implant MUST exceed the MTBF of the implantee. And there must be lifetime after-sales support, Or else the execs who made the decision to pull support should go to prison for the rest of their lives.

    I had forgotten that last winter my old snowthrower was having drive problems. So when the first snow hit a couple of weeks ago my snowthrower barely worked. I thought it only needed a simple adjustment, or maybe a belt, but it turned out that the driveshaft was worn out. The driveshaft is no longer available & nearly worn out ones sell for ~$200 on eBay. Since I have a lathe & welder, I made one. Fortunately, new fiction drive wheel assemblies are still available. Now it's good as new!

    A slightly different view of the Saint Andrew's Cross building at Eglinton Toll on the Southside of Glasgow. Given the similarilties to the prow of a boat, I've always wondered if Glagow's shipbuilding tradition influenced the design of gushet buildings like this.

    Bernie Sanders proposed a resolution to ask US State Dept to do a report on whether US weapons supplied to Netenyahu admin were used in Gaza to violate human rights laws.
