@GottaLaff you never notice day by day but homes get invaded by the mysterious stuff that suddenly appears ad moving day gets closer. It is dangerous. Even an old newspaper wrapping something can stop you in your tracks as it must read or old photos perused. And time elongated so look at 1 photo taken years ago and an hour has passed. Beware stuff

The electric train was invented in 1879. The safety bicycle six years later.

Unleashing the potential of these two “obsolete” technologies is our best bet at addressing the converging climate, health, resource, and inequity crises.

Not smarter cars. Not cleaner cars. Fewer cars.

JohnLoader6,
@JohnLoader6@masto.ai avatar

@modacitylife chicken and egg. Need better public transport before car ownership can decline and in many places traffic has to decline before cycling is safe enough

If like me you've been wondering about how a actually does its job, this helpful explainer (with animation) is really helpful.... but in the end perhaps the best point is that, its just like a fridge, but in reverse (which really helped me see what ti was about).

If this is the future then we need to have at least this level of basic understanding.

Good public interest journalism,...

I love this sculpted road sign on a tenement on Minard Road in the Shawlands area of Glasgow. You often see such relief sculptures on red sandstone tenements built around 1900, but this is the most intricate one I've come across so far.

    JohnLoader6,
    @JohnLoader6@masto.ai avatar

    @GhostOnTheHalfShell Israel gets loads of money and armaments from US. However the money is recycled to buy the armaments from US manufacturers. Singapore has banned Israeli or Israeli linked ships. No government yet got the guts to ban El Al flights

    I believe in building a broad, inclusive Anarchist movement, and that requires Anarchist to have a positive public image. Anarchist presenting themselves positively to people can help dispel misconceptions about Anarchism, making it more appealing to a wider audience. By avoiding negativity, Anarchist would aim to attract potential allies who may share common goals despite ideological differences, fostering a more unified and effective movement for social change.

    Oh, I so love it when one of my (often exercised prejudices) is offered some validation by research... this time its the boost in comprehension a reader gets from reading on paper rather than via a screen.

    For years this is what I told my students (based on my own experience), to be often told it was an age thing... well looks like I was right. Hurrah!

    [No doubt this will re-open the e-book vs. paper book debates in my timeline, but so be it]
