Genuinely curious, does anyone know anything about this electric boiler that works with solar and grid power from Bolt?

What would be your main concerns?

Mine would be installation and servicing…but beyond that it seems like an attractive concept, if you have Solar PV.

Its still really just an electric heater - like a kettle, fan heater or electric shower

It will be about 100% efficient because all electric heating is

  • 1kw in , 1kw out as heat
    But that is all - a heat pump will be
    -1kw in , 2 to 5 kw out

Space heating buildings can require huge amounts of energy compared to the capacity of batteries or typical pv (solar)
Meaning, expensive mains electricity for almost all the load

Assuming typical uk heating demand home, and typical pv and battery installation, My reaction (as a retired electrician) is that it will be incredibly expensive to run because a typical solar pv and battery installation will deliver only a very, very small part of the power used

May be worth finding the other addresses in yr postcode and having a walk around if you are able
