#ChurchOfScotland responds to the Scottish Government bill to ban so called #ConversionTherapy for #sexuality or #gender in #Scotland. The General Assembly had urged a ban, so the submission is broadly supportive. "The #Church's thinking is deepened by hearing the experiences of survivors of conversion practices... We are all created in #God's image, and we all have inherent dignity. We must do all we can in our public witness to respect and affirm this high principle"

It still gets me the Bible Jesus is a homeless socialist with brown skin, hangs out with 12 dudes and a Prostitute, tells rich people to pay their taxes and give their wealth to the poor, tells the religious leaders that they need to love everyone equally, gets a whip and goes hog on people using religion to sell stuff, and then straight up gets murdered for these beliefs. Yet somehow churches act like he's some kind of Conservative Haircut in khakis and a button up, who would support cutting welfare programs, and would preach Prosperity Gospel.

@RickiTarr well, some churches act like that. I still find the Jesus of the New Testament utterly compelling. But of course, the inability of Christians to live up to Jesus' principles is extremely frustrating (and I include myself in that!)

The Church of Scotland is backing a voter registration campaign. "Local churches that sign up to be champions will be equipped to try and increase democratic participation through registering people to vote, providing information about the need to have appropriate photo ID, and encouraging people to turn out on polling day". A General Election is likely to occur in the UK this year
