They're not even, I suppose on terrible technicality, acting hypocritically. That requires saying one thing and doing the opposite.

But they're entirely consistent with their own values, because right wing beliefs are, at their core, the idea that some people get to do things, and others don't.

    Just got a card from a student who has been having a rough year. She was having a great deal of trouble until I started showing her how to really USE a calculator. (It's algebra and geometry not arithmetic, and she knows the algorithms just makes SO MANY little mistakes)

    Since then she's really taken off. I find very few people who could benefit from calculators know how to use them effectively, and there is a lot of snootiness and stigma in the way of this happening.

    I've taken that complaint for conventional use with a pinch of salt ever since I saw someone complain that Excel is wrong, show how to do it "properly" in Python, then after quietly showing that their imported package did the exact same thing, told everyone to just use the round() function to turn 10^-15 into 0, and ta da that now proved it was correct.

    It's my 7 Year anniversary of (nearly) having a breakdown and quitting my job.

    Since, I have:

    • Gained awards for teaching
    • Got a 'Director' job
    • Hosted conferences
    • Got invited to talk
    • Done a load of public engagement

    While my former employer who said I was garbage has:

    • Pissed off a load of people at the height of the pandemic
    • Remained on the Union's shit list for reliance on precarious contracts
    • Built an overseas campus where it's LGBT+ staff can't legally work

    Being in favor of a ceasefire in Gaza is not Anti-Semitic. But Elon Musk really is Anti-Semitic. And Marjorie Taylor Greene, who ironically got Rashida Tlaib censured for making supposedly Anti-Semitic remarks, is a notorious Anti-Semite who claimed that forest fires were being set by “Jewish space lasers.” The American right makes a big show of being pro-Israel, but some of its individual members don’t seem to like the Jewish people very much.

    Amongst the everything else, it's so easy to forget that the US Right are dominated by religious fundamentalists who not only believe the Earth is literally 6,000 years old, but also that the Second Coming is inevitable -- rapture, tribulation, the End Times all as laid out in (an idiot's reading of) Revelation -- and it's all going to kick off in Israel. They're sucking up to the land, and destabilising it to bring about the End Times.

    The Prime Minister has repeatedly claimed that he wants to harshly tackle antisemitism since the start of the Israeli invasion of Gaza.

    Here he is two weeks ago laughing with Space Karen, who recently posted that he fully agrees that Jews push anti-white hatred.

    The platform that Apartheid Clyde owns also happens to pay white nationalist Tucker Carlson to produce a show. Including a recent edition where he accused Jews and the Israeli lobby of funding "white genocide".

    Trebles all round.

    Found some InstaTok video claiming to "x10" your Excel skills with ChatGPT and the example was merging columns.

    Not only does typing out the query take way longer than leaning what "&" does (or fucking TEXTJOIN() for that matter) but it involved him pasting the data into ChatGPT first.....

    Right now, neutrinos are passing through your body from stars that detonated as supernovae halfway across the Universe. Don't worry; they're not dangerous, but they could be a key way to understand the cosmos, understanding how massive stars lived and died across eons. This is the "diffuse supernova neutrino background," and scientists still haven't detected it. New instruments are in the works that might make the first observations of this background by 2035.
