I am very much in favor of billionaires undertaking wildly unsafe adventures so long as they are the only one's at risk

I think they should try their hands at canyon-leaping, hyena-whispering, boomslang petting, and the defusing of landmines and unexploded bombs.

When SCOTUS fucks us over during the month of June, you’ll see just how DANGEROUS it is to NOT VOTE.

@StillIRise1963 Or Protest-vote for that matter. This is a triage situation. Stop the hemorrhaging first, then we can deal with the chronic sickness.

@StillIRise1963 ABSOLUTELY!!! Don't look at me, I vote for dog catcher, school boards, every election no matter how small. The viciously crazy types work their way into the system by going after those small elections that no one pays attention to. Sort of like getting termites only more destructive. @StillIRise1963 Bad news-SCOTUS is trash. Good news- my dad's voting in November, the 1st time in 40 years.

The gym is definitely the place I consistently get the most puzzled/mocking looks for wearing a mask, but since most of the people I know who said things in 2020 like "I don't need a vaccine, I have an immune system" were also ostensibly the health and fitness crowd...

In contrast, long-haul flights with enforced masking had no reports of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 within the aircraft despite serving meals. (1/2)

Who’s going to tell the Pope that apologizing for the “vulgar term” means little now that we know how he really feels about gay people.

Danetteb,

@StillIRise1963 I think it’s funny that people have bought into the narrative that this pope is reforming the church. He’s not and never has been. He’s just into optics.

I'm sure everything being completely fucked by shitty people is just a phase and that outlawing rational people being pissed about it in public will fix a lot of it.

Like @StillIRise1963, at some point, I became self-aware that I could be Bad Person, and made a conscious choice to try to not be.

Like @AnarchoNinaWrites, J can get into the headspace of the Bad People. It’s a hidden superpower.

Now, I just need to figure out who will pay me large sums of money for these…skills.

The irony of a holiday called "Memorial Day," where people don't even remember how it started. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Anti-Blackness is so powerful.

https://time.com/5836444/black-memorial-day/

This isn't forgetting. It's intentional history erasure, to justify present day racism.

“Not conservative enough” has always meant not racist enough.

Oggie,
@Oggie@woof.group avatar

@StillIRise1963 It's funny because there was this coded term that used to be used all the time, 'fiscally conservative' which sort of meant 'well I just don't want to get taxed much but I don't want to be associated with the racists' and then it became more and more clear that the racism was so incredibly baked into the fiscal stuff it could not be cleanly removed.

Even that got 'no true scottsmanned' though. Most of the right can't even see 'conservative' on a clear day, anymore, either.

What does it take for a massive civilizational infrastructure to manage its catchments, watersheds, wetlands, & forests as preventative solutions to drought? I hope someone's asking questions like this (without threat of being suppressed, or worse, for saying so).

"Mexico City could run out of drinking water by the end of June, an event locals call "Day Zero."

Mexico City has long struggled to bring water to its millions of residents, but 3 consecutive years of low rainfall & high temperatures have created a serious emergency.

The Cutzamala water system — a series of treatment plants, reservoirs, & canals that provide water to tens of millions of people — is running dry.

About 40% of Mexico City's water is lost due to leaky pipes." https://www.businessinsider.com/mexico-city-water-crisis-day-zero-drought-rain-2024-5
