I'm curious - if you are a Romance Genre fan and you bought a book labeled Romance - would you feel cheated if the protagonist Love interests did NOT end up together at the end of the story ?
I'm not generally a Romance book reader. I enjoy them occasionally, and think they are generally great !
I assumed that part of the author /reader contract for Romances is that a successful Love relationship at the end - is the expectation.
Looking for some #romantasy ? These 27 books are all #FantasyRomance books with various levels of spice. (My book is part of this set, with low-spice and lots of adventure.)
I'm thinking about the recent romantasy turn in fantasy/romance novels and how the Cantata books may have fit, say, 10 years ago. But in that time I grew old and then decided I didn't want to force spiciness onto my novels and removed most of it.
I still think one of the spiciest scenes is when they are reading books together and...not a single piece of clothing was discarded. 😉
Slow burn indeed. Mind you, I enjoy reading #romantasy every now and again. I'm just not sure I'm the right person to be writing it. Spiciness is just too much work and I'd rather be focusing on other things!
There's a fair bit of romance in Cantata of the Fourfold Realms but most of it is low-key and organically building up.
Looking for more books to read? This set of books is all fantasy romance books with various levels of spice. (My book is part of this set, with low-spice.)
This week's Sapphic Book Bingo post features sapphic speculative fiction, which is a broad and diverse category, so I included 20 instead of 15 recommended books.
Most of them are sapphic paranormal romances, fantasy, or romantasy novels, but there are also some sci-fi romances, dark fantasy, and horror in the mix.
I just found out that there is an entire folktale type where a husband (going on a long journey) asks Satan to guard his wife's modesty. The devil spends the rest of the story chasing and scaring various lovers away, until he gives up the task as hopeless.
Is it just me, or would this be a great premise for a supernatural romance story 🤣🤣
#therian ( golden retriever ) & #furry ( also golden retriever, plus a few others ). i bark a lot and sometimes i bite :3 i will be posting a lot of thoughts about being both therian & furry.
i read like most people breath, mostly #fantasy & #romance, or as i like to call it, #romantasy. i also read a lot of #queer books. i'm a queer romantasy writer myself, currently working on a novel about a transmasc werewolf & a non-binary vampire that start a polycule full of other supernatural creatures. you can find more about my writing on @fluffypawswrites.
i love all kinds of #art, & i've been trying to get into #knitting & #crocheting of late. i love #drawing & #painting, though i'm not very good at it, but i have fun anyway.
i'm known to be a #kinky lewdposter, however i try to keep to contained to my after dark account, [i will add the link once my ad account has been approved]. feel free to follow me there for more hornyposting.
this is not the first instance i've been on, so you have likely seen me around the fedisphere before, but i'm hoping this will be the last for a long time :Blobhaj_Love:
i'd love to make connections with other trans, queer, autistic, adhd, therian, furry etc folks, so please give this a boost so i can find my people :neofox_flag_trans:
After an online training on #ReadersAdvisory for Millennials and Generation Z, I made a mega list on Libby called “Romantasy” and ended up needing arthritis cream on my wrist today with all the mouse work. Overdrive findability is tough. Metadata is scant. Neither author nor genre searches recovered most of these. It’s almost like they want to bury your old content licences. #Romantasy#LibbyApp#librarian#bookstodon#ebooks#curation @bookstodon @librarians

I don't think there was anything in particular I didn't love about this book. The characters are absolutely endearing and have a way of making you smile with their cute little quirks. I also really enjoyed seeing Viv open up and forge friendships with others who were generally known to be disliked, or awkward...
This is the Roundhouse. It was built in 1969. I always thought it was kind of ugly, but it tried to be different and I can respect that. I used to visit various friends here, and I always wanted to jump off the balconies, so I finally wrote a fight scene set here in Old Time Religion.
@bookstodon My #review of Paladin's Faith (Saint of Steel #4) by T. Kingfisher is now live! Kingfisher knocks it out of the park once again in this continuation of one of the best #romantasy series currently available.
We can't believe it! We are totally sold out, needing to order a second print run! 🥳

Saying goodnight to the #FediBookFair weekend. Selected books of mine remain free or half-price on Smashwords till midnight California time (GMT -08:00)
Or look for them at your usual ebookstore or on Kobo Plus and Everand subscriptions.
I started the weekend with my most recent release, Fair Haven, and I’ll end with a mention of my next release, which is Domesticated Magic on April 4.
Mateo is my anxious, awkward main character who lives with his exiled family in a foreign city far from his lost island home. Jonas is my laidback, perennially good-natured love interest, wandering into the cosy Come-By-Chance teahouse with a business opportunity, much to Mateo’s annoyance/fascination.
You can send me a message via my website (or DM here), and I’ll remind you when it comes up for release. I’m not going to spam you with constant ads or any enshittification, just give you an FYI nudge when my books come out (roughly every six months at the moment), or let you know when they all become available in print if that’s your preferred medium.
I hope you’ve been finding lots of Masto authors to follow and #indie books to try on the book fair hashtag. I’ve certainly added plenty to my TBR (including wishlisting on Kobo Plus for next time I re-up my subscription).
It's #CoverReveal day!!! I've been sitting on this cover for way too long, so I'm going to give it a bit of a party today. 😂 Hopefully the graphic works. Check my profile for blurb and the pre-order link. ❤️
I JUST saw a book blogger call fantasy-romance "romantasy," and not only am I here for it, I can't begin to fathom why it isn't the exclusive name for the genre by now.
