Joe Biden can do more to try to rein in Israel, but Biden doesn’t run Israel. He isn’t CIC for IDF. He isn’t deciding what hospital to bomb. He isn’t deciding what border crossings to close.

I see it as part of a broader pattern of certain countries harboring a reservoir of latent antisemitism: Australia, Zealand, Canada, Ireland, Scotland.

Notice the pattern? These are all countries that were historically part of the British Empire. They explicitly cast Israel in the role of Britain and the Palestinians as themselves, and that's how they justify everything.

To remind you, Israel is not a European colony. The majority of the people living there recently came from the Middle East and many of the rest can trace their ancestry to it.

America was a British colony and so was NZ, yet you'd be laughed out of any room where you suggested that Americans and Kiwis should all go back to England.

This is where you get the antisemitism.

So, to address your point directly, you may well be right that support for Israel is low in NZ, but you can't blame it on "anti-colonialism" or any such nonsense.

Nor can you blame it on Jews, because you don't have any. It's funny how some of the most anti-Israeli countries have made themselves unhospitable to potential Jewish immigrants.

Or, really, not so much funny as... antisemitic.

Well, no, you don't. According to Wikipedia, you have 0.1% Jews in your population. Contrast this with 8% of New Yorkers being Jewish.

It's easier to demonize a group whose members you rarely, if ever, encounter.

Causality is hard to unravel. Is antizionism (and antisemitism) the result of a lack of Jews or has it resulted in the lack. Probably both.
