Lawsuit claims Uvalde school shooting gunman bought a gun after using it in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

@kennergf @GIbiz

You would think that the ability to buy a weapon of war is actually the problem, not that they played a video game.

I've been trained to use an actual assault rifle in both convention and counter-operations. I have been taught to kill people. Luckily I never saw an active theatre. But I never felt the need to ever buy such a weapon, although that is very difficult in South Africa. I have also never had the inclination to want to go on a killing spree. I too play video games.

The US's right to bear arms made sense when the second amendment was written. Because the new democracy was susceptible to be corrupted or taken over by a foreign colonial power. Many farmers and persons living far from major towns would need to hunt to supplement their food. And well, as the settlers were taking first persons land there was always the probability of retaliation. So a civilian militia made sense. None of those reasons hold water today and the only reason that assault rifles are available is because people want them to be. And they have established a "club" that has enough money to pay politicians or fund their campaigns so that it's members can be like spoilt children and get what they want and fuck the consequences of idiots, crazy people, evil arseholes also having access.

Imagine if you could do a medical care club that worked like the NRA.

Password complexity has increased in the last decade or so and so has support for managing and entering them. A lot of websites have an "unhide" button, for instance, and some sort of complexity meter.

But not everything.

I just changed one of my corporate passwords on a browser-hosted RDP screen. So, Windows, basically. The passwords are now so long and complex the lack of an unhide button was a real problem! Took me 4 tries to change it (it was a few days from expiring, so I had to).

Weanerdog,
@Weanerdog@c.im avatar

@static

Copy it straight from your password manager. Not sure if that floating around in ram is a security concern though.

Hopefully the password manager has a password Unhide function that you can use.

Why does want to implement ? It's not about images. It's about modelling what workers do on Windows, and then replacing them.

The most expensive part of a computer is the fallible feelings-filled unpredictable meat sack that operates it.

Google has YouTube, Google Photos, Maps, and a bucket load of search data, Google Analytics, advertising, as well as it's data (e.g. transcriptions). And a bunch of data from Android services. From this data they can model speech, model videos and model advertising systems, and how humans respond to them.

But they can't model what people do on computers.

Amazon has Prime data, and a bucket load of compute. But no operating system data. They can build models based around e-commerce and advertising systems.

But they can't model what people do on computers.

Meta has waves hands enough analytics to model human behaviour in the Metaverse.

But they can't model what people do on computers.

Microsoft has GitHub.
Microsoft has LinkedIn.
Microsoft has SharePoint.
Microsoft has Teams.
Microsoft has Dynamics.
Microsoft has O365.
Microsoft has Windows telemetry data.

Microsoft can model what people do on (Windows) computers. Like fill out spreadsheets.Write emails. Synthesize web pages of research. Interact with colleagues on Teams. Create and edit documents.

Microsoft wants data so they can model what people do with operating systems.

Then replace them.

Imagine a CoPilot that doesn't just write buggy code. Imagine one that also does spreadsheets. That creates documents on SharePoint. That communicates with colleages on Teams. That has a customer pipeline on Dynamics.

That's what Recall is about - 360 degree surveillance of the worker, to model their functions, make them fungible, replicable - and replaceable.

Personally I think Libre office does word processing better than MS Word.

Excel and PowerPoint are better than the Libre office versions. I haven't really gone into the relational databases.

So unless you are using VBA in word there is no reason to use it. Just my opinion.

More and more at-home microbiome testing kits are popping up on the market, sold directly to consumers. There hasn't been much peer-reviewed research into them yet, so let's take a look at a recent paper by Diane E. @vagina_museum A question. I'm from South Africa so young ladies get German measel booster shots around 15 or 16 at school. So I was wondering and discussing with my wife why boys and girls don't get HPV shots at school at that age? Seeing as vaccinations have a precedent.

I was wondering if HPV vaccines were available in schools in first world countries? I am assuming you're in England.
